I admit I have never sold used curriculum, I usually just give it to someone else. I am currently trying to set up a community center that will be based out of a old elementary school. I am trying to figure out what to do with all these textbooks and teacher resources. We had a sale but still have A LOT of stuff. I am wondering if anyone has had good luck selling books anywhere in particular. I looked at ebay (which is where I buy most of my books) but it didn't seem like anyone was bidding on the homeschool stuff. Any recommendations? Thanks!! Judi
Try www.homeschoolclassifieds.com This is where I usually sell/buy stuff. Also, if you're a member of HSLDA, you can sell there. I've only had one "problem" with homeschoolclassifieds, just recently, and it worked out. My book took forever to arrive. I sent an e-mail, which wasn't answered. I checked her reputation, and it was EXCELLENT (ie: 10 out of 10 for about 12 people), so I was really confused. To make a long story short, she had sent my book and went on vacation. When she got back, my book had been RETURNED to her because my address had somehow come off. So it had to be resent. BUT IT ARRIVED!!! (And just in time, too, I might add!)
I stopped selling on eBay - too much of a pain and now sell on Amazon (realling easy to do ... and my son has a Youtube video up telling you how to if you are stuck) or, if the book doesn't seem to make enough there, I sell on homeschoolclassifieds. the HSLDA market just isn't big enough yet Meryl
I sold my dd's stuff on ebay over the summer and did pretty well. The trick is to sell it at the right time of the year. July + August are when people start buying the curriculum for the year. You could possibly sell it now, but you are not going to get a good price for it. It is a pain, but I made enough money to buy her stuff for this year (used off ebay of course). I have also sold used books on amazon and that is ALOT easier than ebay. You don't have to take any pictures, right up listings, or figure up shipping costs. All you have to do is put in the ISBN # and what price you want for it. Lastly, you could try craigslist. That is the easiest and it is free. Plus you don't have to ship anything since it is all local.
I've sold curriculum on Ebay, www.vegsource.com (had the most luck there because it's VERY busy), www.half.com, and homeschoolclassifieds. There are TONS of yahoo homeschool groups that sell/swap curriculum - Another alternative is www.paperbackswap.com -You won't make money but will earn credits or if you have stuff that is unpostable they have a good homeschool board where you can offer deals and get deals. It's a really great site. I don't sell to make money- I only sell things so I can buy more stuff for the next school year. If you want to just get rid of the stuff -try your local freecycle board -I'm sure there are homeschoolers there Or donate it to the Book Samaritan and get a tax credit. Jane
thanks I have a pile of 6th grade teacher stuff to sell so I think I will check into this thread better later today!
Thanks for the replies. I looked at homeschoolclassified.com this morning, but need more time to explore. I had not really thought about Amazon but another committee member had mentioned it. Easier than Ebay, I'm in!! I don't care about making any money. Just really did not want to throw the stuff away. I live in the boonies, all the local homeschoolers have already looked at it.
I've gotten to the point where I start HERE first. Then go Amazon, and if it doesn't sell there I list it on paperbackswap.com. I have 24 credits on PBS already! LOL I'm stockpiling them to hopefully get all our historical fiction for next year! So...what ya got???
I really didn't post this to hit you up to buy my stuff. I felt like that might be rude. But since you asked...... I will get a list together. It will be tomorrow because I too tired tonight to go back to that building that has consumed my life for the past two weeks!! Good news is I hooked my 5th grader up!!! Too bad the other two are to old for the K-6 curriculum that was down there.
