    Hi everyone,

My mom is tcup/Mary. I know my mom posted a question about me and now I have some questions of my own to ask you all, ok? I want my mom to homeschool me but i dont know where to start.

How can i still be involved with dances? i am a sophomore, and if i am homeschooled i realize i will be missing out on my junior prom and my senior ball which i have been looking forward to, and i would still like to be involved with them.

Do i wait out the rest of the year in ps or do i immediatly start homeschooling as soon as i am accepted? ( starting this year)

Do u know of any homeschooling programs in or around Roseville, Ca ?

    Thankyou,
    Katherine:cool:

Katherine, couldn't you still go to your prom if you were invited? As I remember it, we could bring out of school guests as long as they were registered.

Becky, that varies from school to school. Some schools with problems of violence, etc. only allow kids from their own school. You're not allowed a date from another school. Others that don't have trouble allows non-students if they are dating the student.

Katherine, you can start homeschooling any time you want. You could start tomorrow if you and your mom were willing! But, as late as it is this year, you might want to try and stick it out these last few weeks. But I don't know what your situation is. If it's intolerable for you, then you might consider coming home right away.

As far as the dances go, you MIGHT have to decide which is more important to you...being homeschooled, or the social dances with your friends. That's a decision you and your mom will have to make together.

I agree with Jackie you can start anytime you all want and are ready....

If you do decide to hs you might want to join a hs group and they have proms and balls check in to it...

If you are going to HS throught an accredited program, so you can get a diploma, I would recommend that you finish the year out (if there is no safety or major reason that would make you need to leave immediately). That way you receive full credit for this semester and year. It will be easier to transfer credits that way. I wouldn't think it would be optimal for someone to change schools this close to the end of the year, so I don't know that changing to HS'ing and trying to finish current courses will be any easier this close to the end of school.

As for the dances, check your PS district's current policy. Also, check into HS groups in your area. Some groups in the country have dances, activities and even graduation ceremonies.

If you are enrolled in a homeschool group through a private school, you might be able to join their dances. The group we are enrolled in allows the homeschool group to join their dances and prom.

Our community has a hs group that hold kindergarten and highschool graduation ceremonies and senior proms. You may want to check into something like that.
