    http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1062168--bad-teachers-ontario-s-secret-list

This article freaked me out. But then I started to recollect numerous teachers who were less then professional in some ways.

I had a grade eight teacher who would haul some kids out of class by the top of the ear.

A math teacher who breathed down the back of your neck and peered down blouses.

A history teacher who bent over once to laughingly look up my skirt while I was sitting at a desk.(yes I was creeped out but too embarassed to do anything about it. That's what these adults are counting on isn't it. That no one speaks up?)

A business teacher who told the class too much about his personal life including the fact that he only had one testicle.

Oh the list could go on. But frankly I think teachers need more training in what is and isn't acceptable behaviours for them. I mean these are the people who are supposed to be showing kids how to behave. Disgusting!

How can they not know this is unacceptable? This isn't a "teacher" problem. These are human beings who are abusive predators;they would be this way if they were gas station attendents, or house painters, or bank tellers. They would be arrested and charged if they did this to anyone else. why would you protect these animals?
The worst teacher I ever had was in the third grade who would stand a kid in the corner and make them hold their arms straight out, then she would stack thick heavy textbooks on their arms and make them hold them up for up to 15 minutes. I was horrified the first time I witnessed this. After reading this article, I feel fortunate.

    UGH.

I have to say, although I had quite a number of so-so teachers, my worst 'abuse' situations were minor compared to what I read. In 1st grade, I had to stay in for recess because I helped another child with his math. In 3rd grade I got my name on the board because I talked (while everyone was coming and going). In 5th grade, I was convinced my teacher hated me because she left red marks on my papers. My crime? Writing circles over my 'i's instead of dots. That's.... pretty much it.

Ds's second grade teacher was atrocious. We still tell horror stories, and he will admit his writing skills, interest in reading, and his love for math all died an agonizing death in her classroom. She was very fond of her red pen, her worksheets, and her inappropriate book choices (second graders should not be reading about thesis reports- that is NOT a fun book to send home to read with mom!) Still, doesn't compare to the crap going on in other schools.
