I just wanted to share what a blessed day I had yesterday. We live in the Missouri Ozarks, and it's very beautiful here, with lots of places to go and things to see. My kids enjoy going to the Nature Center here locally and asked to go yesterday. I didn't want to drive to the other side of town, but I decided to surprise the kids and go to a park nearby. We live in the country, and this park is in the country also, even though it is in the city park system. Anyway, they played on the new play equipment, we had a picnic, then we walked the trails to a beautiful creek area which feeds into a serene lake which spills out by a waterfall. The butterflies and dragonflies were everywhere, we walked and sang, holding hands and loving the time together. Dont' get me wrong, there are days when the kids are fussing and I've about had it, but yesterday was so pleasant. I am so thankful to live in this country, to be blessed with the blessings I (and most of us) have, and to be able to be at home with my children and for us all to be learning together - and not always just academics but other things that are deeply meaningful and important. Thanks for letting me go on and on. I wish you all a great weekend and a happy "school" year.
Sounds like you had a great day. We get lots of those down here also. We live in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I think this area is so beautiful. It so peaceful and very educational. I wish you many more pleasant days like that one.
Thanks for letting us in on a great day! Nice to meet you, by the way. We had a similar day the other day....no waterfalls , but a surprise park visit and very appreciative kids. I'm in west central IL. We've talked about a family trip to the Ozarks sometime....from what you've described, we'll definitely be looking into it! Hope you enjoy the forums and once again, welcome!
Hey sounds like a great idea. If your serious I'm in. It truely is beautiful down here. And were always up for getting together with other homeschoolers.
Actually, Moondancer, I was only joking. Ohio to the Ozarks isn't possible for us, as much as I'd love to. Plus we just got back from Michigan's Upper Pennisula! Sorry!!!
I am often in the Ozarks In Springfield and other parts of Missouri and you are all right it is absolutly beautiful. Even in the winter. Who knows we just might drop by for a visit!! lol
Information Guide Well, if any of you all are ever down this way, just let me know. If you ever think of a move, keep Springfield, Missouri, in mind. This area is full of homeschoolers and many co-ops, field trip opportunities (even an organized non-profit field trips group), great libraries, great churches, etc. Springfield (and Missouri in general) has low unemployment and a low cost of living compared to other places. I like to look up information for people, so if you want to know something, just ask. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Hi Trudy! Welcome to Homeschool Spot. Springfield is a great place to live. I bet you didn't realize you were on my website. It spun off from my main site, A to Z Teacher Stuff, after abcteach decided not not reopen the forums there. It sounds like you are doing well! I hope you enjoy your visits here. The people are very friendly and helpful. Amanda (Hill) Post
Amanda! How funny, I had no idea this was your deal. I really enjoy reading everyone's questions, advice, etc. I haven't seen you for awhile. I hope you all are doing well. What a small world (even on the internet!).
Hey Trudy, We're thinking about moving up to Springfield. I'm tired of driving 3 hours to do any real shopping. Also we wanted to get the kids involved in Spiral Scouts but the closest one is in Springfield. Its just a matter of dh getting a job up there. Any clue on how long the drive is from Springfield to St. Louis?? Just trying to gauge the trip to grandma's, right now we are 5 and a half hours from St. Louis on awful two lane roads. Any other info you could give us would be great!
