I know many of you do not give report cards but for those of you who do please shed some light on how you divide your terms. I am hs year round but our year is only 180 days. I have divided the year in two terms fall and spring . There are about 26 weeks in my fall and 14 weeks in my spring. Should I do two report cards a semester or just divide the forty weeks and give a report card every 10 weeks? What do you do? Please respond if you give out report cards, Thanks.
Actually, I issue grade reports every 20th school day. That makes 9, including the end of the year one. I have a 36-week year. For a 40-week year, which would be 200 days for me, I'd probably do one every 25th school day and have 8 grade reports.
I divide ours into 9 wks. I like every 6wks better, but we started out w/9 so I have stuck w/it, for whatever reason.
I might do report cards. We do year round-I split that into two semesters and a quarter as I call it. Aug-Dec then Jan-May are my semesters (this is due to the co-op we signed up for-it's the schedule they use for their classes) Then June-July is our light summer quarter. So my kids will get 3 report cards a year. Some local places offer discounts or freebies for good report cards, that's they only reason I'm doing report cards. ETA: Our state requires an end of year evaluation. I will do an evaluation for each semester and quarter (we don't have to turn them into the state-we just have to do them and keep them on file for 3 years...) I'll do an evaluation for each semester and the quarter and keep them all on file....I plan to offer a change of subjects studied after each term is why-
