We just returned from Sizzler. After dinner we went to the Salvation Army to look for books.
As usual, I am very pleased with what we bought. We spent $12.50 and bought an older globe. Ems had one but it was from Wal-Mart and had the plastic base so it broke fast. This one has the metal base so hopefully it will last a lot longer. We also bought three movies, 10 books and Ems found a pretty pink blouse that looks new.
The best buy was Wuthering Heights from Emily Bronte and Selected Poems from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I already have Wuthering Heights but I often purchase books I already have. I can't stand passing up a great deal on a great book.
Both books are brand new. Absolutely beautiful and crisp and they still smell new!!!:p
I love books!!!! I sometimes feel like those elderly women who collect dozens of cats. In my case, it is hundreds of books.
Right now I am reading Meet Me In Saint Louis and I am enjoying it. So far it isn't much like the movie but I am really enjoying the alive, upbeat motion the book is taking.
    Anyways, here I go babbling!
I was excited, again, about what I found and wanted to share.

I can totally relate to used book buying and overbuying.

I used to sell books online. I had an excuse to buy books at the time and I would buy a few each trip that were for me. I would later sell many of those off after I had lost interest. I would often buy a book just because it was cool in some way. This worked out, because my eccentric taste in books found a great many that had terrific resale value.

I did keep the kids books I bought along the way, and we have about 600 childrens books. We are about to out grow some stuff and I will sell it off and replace it with stuff for an older age level.

It is amazing what you can find cheap. I especially love to shop at the larger church rummage sales. Also the FOL sales. They often have entire sets or reference books for really cheap prices. I once bought 15 Sesame Street hard back books, the Entire ChildCraft set, about 35 phonics readers all about 30 dollars.

We went to the hospital on Wednesday morning to the used book sale they have once a year. It was so much fun. The lady there told me they have a new book sale twice a year as well. I hadn't heard of that before but she said she would call and let me know when it would be. The Goodwill shop had some books we got too and their prices were great. I loved the library booksale we stumbled across a few months ago. We really racked up there.

    Girl you are too funny!!!

I am not aware of a salvation army around here but it's Houston so ther has to be one right? I love books too. Samantha just finished studying the poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and we own a very tattered copy of Wuthering Heights. I think I've read it a million times!

Now I am giong to have to find the closest Salvation Army to get in on these good deals!

I tend to do this sometimes. A cover looks so pretty or it makes the book look like a good catch.
Well, I learned my lesson. You can't judge a book by its cover. I do not know how many books were horrible and I couldn't finish reading them. I have a huge, Did Not Finish list to go along with the list of books I have read.

I am a sucker for classics.
I read different styles but I always run back to the classics to reread what I already read. Although I have read many great books, nothing compares to classic literature.
