Ok we are moving back to our land because hubby's work has taken a turn to the south and so we no longer can stay in the city. Our land is in the country and will be living in a camper until we can build a little cottage like house. So my question is do any of ya'll have satellite internet? The only thing that we can get there is dial-up and I detest it. So if you have it or maybe know some one who does could you please give me any insight to it. Like companies and if it is worth it. What I can expect from the companies and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tabitha:confused:

Tabitha, we don't have it, but looked into Hughesnet in the autumn. A list of their plans and prices is here. OTOH, I know a family in your situation, although not homeschooling, and the parents sound pretty dissatisfied with dial-up. I notice they (the entire family) spend A LOT of time at the library online.

If we had to gow with Hughesnet, I am inclined to think I would really, really plan my downloads and then limit the kids' time online - maybe no online computer time at all at home.

Another option to consider at the wireless internet cards (mobile broadband) the cell phone companies offer. If you have a decent cell signal, it could be an option for you. My DH's company has a few, and it's been REALLY handy when he's been on a business trip and there was no internet service around.
