I want to name us, but I haven't been able to think of anything...I know I want it to be a pun, because I love puns, but I want it to reflect something thats important to each of my students. I never thought of school colors, but thats a good idea too!
I want to name ours, but haven't come up with anything yet--I need to so I can name the homeschool blog I'm gonna start! XD When I was a kid, we just called it Homeschool. =P I think we went through a time where we called it (Lastname) Christian School or something like that, but it sorta faded away for some reason.
We tossed around a few names but in the end I lost out to what my girls wanted. Our homeschooling has allowed us to take trips to the tropics and to my girls favorite beaches so they chose White Sands Academy. Our colors are aqua and white, our mascot is a dolphin. My older daughter loves to create things on the computer so she designed a "trademark" for our school. I am planning on getting pencils and t shirts made up, but I havent done anything past the planning stage yet
I want shirts for field trips (I'm always terrified of losing a child on a busy filed trip in a crowded zoo or something) So I always try to mentally tell myself when we walk in a busy place (Ephram's wearing a red shirt and black shorts, Malachi is wearing a green John Deere shirt and blue jean shorts) so if they get lost I'll have thought about about what they were wearing....
We weren't really creative with our Homeschool name, Just "our last name" Homeschool, but will try to come up with a better one once we move to Florida! Guess we should start thinking about it now.
I asked Miles we should call our homeschool, and he suggested The Painted Ladies. XD Too bad we don't live in San Francisco! XD I'm laughing so much right now, this kid cracks me up. (FYI, the inspiration for that suggestion is that my desktop right now is a photo of The Painted Ladies.)
Ours is Cygnet Preparatory Academy for Diligent and Resourceful boys. (we live on Swan st.) I was kinda making fun of the old fashioned boys schools for incorrigables. Our Mascot is a Viking.(but we don't use it much) Our Motto is Whatever Risk, yet go Forward. Our colors are Blue and Red. We have t-shirts with a shield that the boys designed. It has a cross in the middle of the shield, a dragon on one side, a bear on the other...a crown on top with a swan in it. It turned out very cool. Even if we don't use the name so much, we had a good time discussing it, designing the shirts, compromising on the elements. (I really wanted a latin motto...the boys really wanted one they could say.)
Victorian houses, specifically ones in San Francisco that are painted three or more colors--but also just Victorian houses in general. He asked me a few weeks ago what they were (the houses on my desktop) and I told him they were The Painted Ladies. I guess it stuck with him, hehe.
I think we finally have a name for our school. My son loves animals, especially turtles, birds and fish so I was looking for a way to incorporate them into our school. Everything I could think of sounded too juvenile or pretentious. I finally realized that we live on a cul-de-sac (circle) and the rooms we will use for homeschooling all have a view of the circle. We're going to be Circleview School or Academy and our symbol will be three circles linked together. One will have a turtle, the second an owl and the third a fish. Our motto will be Learn, Explore and Persevere with turtle = persevere because it can get somewhere if it just keeps going, fish = explore because the ocean is still not fully explored and owl = learn for the "wise old owl". My son loved that we were able to incorporate all the animals into our symbol. Any comments about this as a name?
Our school name is Thornfield Academy. The school mascot was our friendly rooster but he passed early this year. So we are still in the process of finding another. LOL
