Ok, I had a photographer contact me today (since I am the new leader of our hs co-op) about doing "school" pictures for the "students". I had never thought about school pictures for ds since I figured we are homeschooling, that is something we just will not do. Well, her email made me start thinking. I know a person who does photography. So, I started emailing her and she said she would be interested in doing pictures for our group. She said she will get back to me with pricing. This leads to my question for you ladies, what would you be willing to pay for "school pictures" for your children. I know she can get pictures printed, but mostly she does the photo session and gives you a cd with the pictures on it that you can then get printed wherever you want. Also, would you be interested in a group picture of your hs co-op? She had asked if I would be interested in a group photo, or just individuals. I am not sure.

One of the members of our group is a photographer so we offer school pictures pretty much every year. The prices for packages range from around $25 - $50 depending on what you get. They do not do a group photo since our group is way too large but if you have a small group people might like that.

I have always taken my kids' pictures since we don't have a local co-op. They turn out like "senior pictures" and are usually set outside or wherever the kids want them done and with ds's bass or other such things. All that to say, I would not be willing to pay much for plain, traditional background "school pictures". It was one of the irritating things for me when my kids went to ps. $28 for a very small number of pictures. The packages and pics would have to be incredible for me to pay that again. However, kids enjoy memories with groups they belong to, so I'd probably pay $5 a piece for a group photo.

We go to the ps for ours. They allow hslers and families with younger kids to get pics done there.

I pay any where from $20-80 depending on the package and if I liked the photos. The photographer always shows me the pics and lets me pick with ones I want. Sweet lady.

Now I would not be willing to do only a cd then have to have them printed. Reason for that is I am horrible about going to get stuff printed off. I prefer a package made up for me already printed and ready to go.

When we were enrolled in a program, we took school pictures and class pictures. These days we just take pictures ourselves and the ones we like best we turn into school pictures. A couple of my friends are photographers and offer packages for homeschoolers.

I'm actually a photographer, so I just do my own for my kids. I was thinking about offering to my co-op group if they don't have some one already.

We have someone do it at co-op. They want everyone done, so the picture can be in the yearbook, but I don't buy them.

Hey this is exactly the same as what our homeschool association offers. A professional sitting and then a Cd the photographers include a family shoot as well. The cd costs $30 and then we can have it developed where ever. Not everyone takes advantage of this though. And I think this year I am going with a Walmart sitting as they do an equally good job for less.

I currently take my girls to JC Penney or Portrait Innovations and don't pay more than $10 for my 1-pose package and get enough to give out to our family/friends. So in my situation, I would probably not want to switch to pay more than that. But of course, that wouldn't include the group shot. I say that, but then occaisionally I do pay my friend who is trying to get a business up and running $50 to spend a couple hours with my girls playing and she gives me the CD. So I guess, really, it would depend on my motivation. Guess I'm not really helping... LOL

WOW! $10 is a great price. I use to have Em's baby pictures taken at Penneys at one pose cost me an arm and a leg. GREAT DEAL!!!

We are gong to be doing a yearbook this year. Out support group did one last year, bu I wasn't involved in it. This year, DS an I are getting involved, and I will be leading the co-op next semester. The kids will collect photos during the first semester, and then upload them to the computer and create the yearbooks on a website. Then they'll be printed and ready by the end of the year.

I take photos each year of my boys for "school" pictures. They get to wear whatever they want, and they can choose to have them taken at home, or we can go somewhere nearby and they can be taken there. For them it's just a special day for pictures. Last year they chose to take them outside, and also inside with a background they painted themselves, they came out very well. They haven't decided what they want this year yet.

When my kids were in ps, I was paying $50 each child. That was for the smallest package, plus one extra 8x5. And what I found crazy: if my child didn't like the background, and wanted say green boring instead of the standard gray boring, it cost me an extra $5. I thought it was a complete rip-off.

We will be doing pics this year, but I'm not paying $100. I'd easily be willing to pay $50 for both kids, though.

I love Portrait Innovations, but they always take so many great photos and I'm too weak to just buy the one pose package. I always spend much more than I budgeted for the pictures.
