    Teacher Mom...

This is where I got my info, but we are in GA. You can go to actually any state and find their curriculum. I like our state's setup so I use it to go by.
http://www.glc.k12.ga.us/qcc/ You just find the grade level and subject you are interested in and it will bring it up for you. I also plan to use some of the lessons that are there as well.

On this page you can click on the subjects under the photo at the top and find all the standards.
http://www.georgiastandards.org/ I actually printed these out and wrote notes on them to make it easier to read and use.

Leslie, there are no experiments in "Considering God's Creation". The activities are more cut-and paste stuff, and they should tell their dad or someone what they learned using these. You can keep them in a notebook. Each child should have their own workbook. I didn't buy one for my youngest because some of it wasn't appropriate for him. The pages I felt were appropriate I copied. (They DO allow you to copy pages!) It's not super in-depth, but it DOES give a good over view. Older children can do more in-depth research. If you aren't in a hurry to finish it in one year, you can always expand on any particular topic. It really was a good match for us. She also gives Bible Study for each topic, and there's a CD with cutesy songs to help the kids remember. Actually, your kids are at a good age for it.

If anyone is interested in taking a look at the Exploring Creation series published by Apologia written for elementary age children there are sample modules you can see at the Apologia website.
http://www.highschoolscience.com/ To view a sample module of Exploring Creation with Astronomy, Exploring Creation with Botany, or Exploring Creation with Zoology vol 1 or Vol 2
Click on Elementary Science in the left hand column.
Click on the Exploring Creation book you are interested in, then under the book you will see "sample module" and "Table of contents"

I think I made Exploring Creation with Zoology sound more technical than it is. Yes, there is some advanced terminology but it is explained in the text and overall the book seems to be written on a 4th or 5th grade level.

    Thanks, Jackie...

It sounds perfect for us....we are not much of an "experiment" bunch here, so the cut and paste would be great for us. Also, being able to expand on our own the area of interest the kids have is great!

When I ordered my CGC, it came with a CD. For some strange reason, the description made it sound as if the CD was NOT included, so I ordered a seperate one. So then I ended up with two!!! I complained about it to CBD, and they gave me a $3 gift certificate.

    Jackie,
What is on the CD that came with Considering God's Creation ? Is it the same as the separate cassette, songs to go with the lessons ? How much did you pay for the separate CD ? Would cbc let you send back the separate one you ordered for a full refund ? Of course, shipping someting back always costs the shipping amount plus time to take it to the P.O.

Yes, they are the same. Cutesy songs, that's it. Acutally, I guess I bought the cassette, because that's what CBD sells seperate. So I ended up with one cassette and one CD that contained the same stuff. But it DOES come automatically when you buy the Teacher's Manual. No, I didn't send it back, but they did give me a certificate good for $3 (the price of the cassette) for the next time I ordered from them. (And CBD is one of the places I usually order from at least once a year, so it didn't go to waste!)

Ok...I ordered Considering God's Creation yesterday. I am excited to try it out. I have heard alot good things about it...it sounds like it will be perfect for us! I can't wait to get it and look it over!

We are planning on starting our "official" schooling the week after next. Once I get my science and spelling book in, we will be good to go! I already got everything else!

Jackie...I will be heading to your state for a few days. We leave tomorrow. My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary....yes...I said 50! We are having an openhouse for them on Saturday. I have 4 sisters and non of us live near each other, so it will be really fun spending a few days with them. We'll be in the Toledo area.

Just thought I'd share!! See you all when I get back!

I graduated from Bowling Green, so I'm familiar with the Toledo area. We just got back from a trip to Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. We visited AiG's Creation Museum. It's not finished yet, but we're "charter members" and received a "behind the scenes" tour. It was VERY nice! We hadn't even left the place yet and the kids were asking, "Can we come back when it's finished PLEASE???"

    Hope you like CGC!
