My kids finally bugged me enough to talk me into getting this series. I've looked through the first two books, and I LOVE it! We've always used Apologia Young Explorers, which I still love of course, but I think it's time to switch. I'll let you know what I think next year, in case anyone else is thinking of switching. I'm going to go through the first 30-45 lessons with DS6 before the end of our school year. DS9 says he wants to read it for fun because he likes the way Wile intertwined history and science (he's my history kid!).
We are using it this year. I always have trouble finding science that I like, that gets done, and that my kids like. This one is going well for us! The experiments (actually demonstrations) are quick and easy and they work. They really do use things that you are likely to have around the house. The lessons are short, have a main point, and build upon previous lessons and I like that it gives different notebook assignments for different age students.
Ohh, looks good. Thanks for the recommendation! It's hard to find a curriculum that covers a variety of science areas. I love that it covers so many topics! Nature's Workshop also does an experiment kit for it. We used their Apologia kit and it was great, so we'll probably pick that up too. I really find the kit worth it for us. I don't have time to find all the experiment supplies.
Yeah, I bought their kit for General Science for my older... love it! I decided not to get this one, though. $90 is pricey, and I already have a lot of what I need. We might pick up items here and there or skip an experiment once in a while.
