Well, the time has come around again for raking leaves. Here, the city doesn't pick up leaf bags every week. At least, not always. It varies from place to place, anyway.
Much of our property is oak trees- giant ones. Makes for a lot of raking in the fall  There's no official pickup here (unless I leave them for the trash guy), so we mulch some, dh moves some to the treeline against my protest, and the really crazy fall wind takes care of anything we miss. I LOVE fall leaf piles, though. The kids have such a blast in them
Send some of that north, please! I'm so chilly tonight I'm thinking about starting the woodstove (again)
We do not have leaves to rake yet. We should start seeing some changes in the trees by the end of October through November.
Not allowed to light a fire here, wish we could!!! We did have free pick-up on certain days in the fall, but they were discontinued due to budget cuts. I believe they might have been reinstated when a levy passed, but am not sure, as that was when I started composting. Now my leaves all go into the compost pile.
jackie: We seem to pay the city so much for all sorts of services. A pity they don't collect leaf bags more than they do, anyway. I like Fall as a season, though, generally speaking. (Pumpkin pie, too...)
We dont' have to bag, we just rake them to the edge of the street. The city sends a truck around every day with a huge vacuum and mulcher attached. The problem for us is they stop pickup in November but our Oak trees usually drop leaves late in the year. We get a bunch picked up, but many drop later. We usually just toss them in the garden and dig them in when we till the garden the next year.
