Can anyone recommend a good, but inexpensive secular science curriculum that teaches evolution? I'm talking, like around $55 or less, including teaching guide. Thanks!
We use Prentice Hall's Science Explorer, you can find the books cheaply on Amazon and Ebay usually and also on the sale boards on www.welltrainedmind.com/forum and www.homeschoolclassifieds Also you may be interested in taking a look at Intellego Unit Studies (look at their site then find them on www.currclick.com because they are on sale there right now. Ummm what else is there. I know there are others for middle schoolers. I'll come back
oh I love this guy, not so much a curriculum, but a boat load of videos and then some! www.thehappyscientist.com you can buy a membership for $10 usually on www.homeschoolbuyerscoop.com Really you could just use his videos and let your son explore what ever he wants.
Homeschoolbuyerco-op also offers Thinkwell science courses from time to time. The Biology course starts off in the first chapter with evolution. His personal passion for evolution comes out more than I prefer, but he is an interesting teacher. Thinkwell is an online course, so no teacher's guide is needed. I think I payed about 75 for the course. It's a little higher than you mentioned, but almost no work on your part. Very independent study.
Seems a lot talk about something called CPO science, I looked and you can get a 2007 version of the books in a set on ebay for $30. (search cpo science) I know there are others, but my brain is really failing me. Secular science once you get beyond the elementry level is kind of hard to find if you want something specifically written for homeschoolers. I know I found a series once, I think I searched secular science like apologia or something.
