Should we be angry

    Sorry it was really a response to Meg. Even my Grandparents thought non-local fruit a special treat.

    Maybe you could try and barter for locally grown fruits and veggies on Craigs List? They have a barter section that goes crazy here in Colorado.

    I realize I live in the country so life is different, but I could (if I wanted to) trade any number of people fresh veggies for eggs as I raise chickens.

    Things are not going to get better, so try and think outside the box a little. Who knows, maybe someone at the local farmer's market needs something you have and you can do a trade.

    And apple season is fast approaching. I'd like fresh apples all fall and trade someone for eggs in a heartbeat.

    My best advice is to look for a produce co-op! I get my produce from a co-op for 11.50 a week and I get 10-16 different varieties of fruit and veggies and it's fresh and delicious and cheaper than anything I'd find in a store!!!
