should we be understanding of atheists?

Sometimes there are not answers that we can give. This is where faith kicks into gear. Even my pastor has told people, "I will ask God when I get to heaven because I honestly can't answer that question for you." :D

I would love to believe everything with faith, but you can't make faith happen.

I am a person who likes to know how, when, why, how much, etc. I can't just make myself accept things blindly.

To be honest, I have lately struggled with several Bible passages and really it has caused me to wonder if what I have believed for so long is entirely true. I haven't thrown my faith away and I wouldn't call myself an atheist or agnostic, but just a Christian who is hanging on to my faith by a thread. So, maybe now that I have gone through this (again), I have more sympathy for people who honestly cannot say they believe.

As far as being liberal or not, I am conservative with some reservations.

I believe that life should be protected in the womb or outside of the womb.

I believe that people should have to work for their living. Obviously there are exceptions and I believe there should be assistance. The welfare system makes it too easy for some people to get help they really shouldn't need and too hard for some people to get help they really do need. I think that anyone who is physically able to work should have to do something to earn that welfare check and if they are a single mom/dad, they should get help for daycare so they can do something.

I believe our borders should be protected, but I get very angry when people take such a hard line stance against illegal immigrants. I have neighbors who are illegal and I love them. My sister on the other hand has no sympathy for children who were brought here illegally by their parents. I know we just can't open up the borders for any person to come, but I don't like the idea of sending away kids who came here through know fault of their own. I also don't want to send the adults away. I don't really know the best answer for that.

I think we should be involved in politics. We should vote for who is representing us. We should protest peacefully if we feel strongly about something. If we don't speak up, we can't complain.
