I don't know why but I just looked at CLE Language Arts. We are secular and have stayed completely away from anything from a Christian perspective... but I think I'm in love with this LA, I would have hit buy if it was secular. I'm having a hard time not hitting buy as it is.

Why oh why did I look?????

I love CLE! I'm a big supporter and recommend it often but....I could not read you post and not respond. If you truly want to stay secular I highly doubt you would be pleased. I was in the market for a Christian curriculum. Some seen to be where you could avoid the Christian influence but not CL. God, Jesus, and scripture references abound even in LA. Now I have not had any problems with feeling like it supported one denomination or another it has just been very biblical in my opinion but I would want you to know it would be hard to skip the religious parts. I'd be happy to answer more specific questions if you decide to pursue it. Hope you find your perfect match!

I'm going to stay with my plans... I have no choice now, I blew my fun money today on the boys in the train shop in town (ouch, expensive hobby and they have 3 displays in the basement they are building up).

I'm ok with exposing the kids to God and Jesus, Rylee asks me a lot about them and I am happy to tell her all I know, and what little I see in the samples I could handle.... but yeah I'm outta money so it's all good...lol

I get the out of money!! If I ever start to play the lottery and managed to win there would probably be a news story about the crazy lady who plans to spend half her winnings on curriculum!! That is a plus of CLE to me. I buy a little along since I don't need all the workbooks for the year all at once. Hope you find a groove in what you have!

I LOVE CLE math! It does not have a ton of scriptures and bible references like the LA does although it does have some reference in the word problems and some of the names are biblical. I do know a secular family that uses it and they said they just overlooked anything that was religious because it is a solid math program.

Usually it's about $5. I know I may pay a little more by making 2-4 orders a year but it is worth it to me to be able to pay cash for my curriculum and not use a credit card or savings to buy it all at once.

I'm really struggling with this. I was out with hubby this morning and it kept creeping into my head.

Part of me says have the kids spend this week working on the placement test and then order the first unit that for the level they test into and try it. The other part of me says get a bunch of Spectrum workbooks.. which actually feel similar to me.

I kept my grocery bill low enough that I can afford to spend a tiny bit but not a whole lot.

Ok, over this thought. I ordered something. Gonna go with that and forget anything else exists :) I did so much better back in the days of the newbie homeschooler, when I didn't know so much was out there.
