Today we finally got in to see the ENT.. He looked in Nick's mouth and commented on how HUGE his tonsils were.. Said they may be playing a part in what's going on.. He ran a scope up his nose and down his throat to look at his vocal cords and rule out any serious issues like growths.. He didn't find anything like that but did say that he had a lot of mucus and some irritation in his throat indicating allergy issues.. So now we have been referred to an allergist.. ((sigh)) this is NEVER going to end.. I think that by the time we figure out what's going on, we will have seen every specialist in existance.. Not looking forward to the allergy tests.. :/ The huge tonsils may be the issue in his breathing and paired with drainage it may be causing the nausia.. We shall see.. I'm just ready to get this taken care of.. He wants to play sports and he's still having to sit out.. No P.E. until we get it figured out.. Definately no athletics.. Keep him in your prayers.. This is wearing thin on him..

He missed the whole day of school and tomorrow he will miss again because we have to travel to another doctor for Speech therapy to help him learn to control the muscles in his throat.. I don't think it's necessary, but when I asked the ENT he said to keep the appointment and we will see what the allergist does.. I'm assuming that once we get sinus drainage under control we will have his tonsils removed.. He's almost 16 and it's going to be rough.. We've tried for YEARS to have them taken out, but the doctors always said that he would grow into them and I trusted them.. Wish i would have asked to see an ENT a LONG time ago..

Today we went to see a speech therapist.. Apparently they can help him learn to control what's going on with some simple exercises.. What stinks is that we will have to drive to the appointments 3 hours round trip.. I'm hoping we only have to go once a month.. I have a big car and gas gets expensive.. We are trying to get him appointments that will keep him from missing classes.. Hopefully, they can see him in the evenings.. I'm REALLY hoping that this will help.. They looked at his tonsils today too and said they need to go.. I think we are going to really try to get them out on one of his school breaks.. :/

My daughter's asthma is allergy-induced, but exacerbated by exercise (because of the need for more oxygen) when she has a flare-up. It sounds like this could be the case for your son (I'm not diagnosing!! Every kid is different!)

We had the hardest time getting her coaches to understand that concept, and finally moved her to a new team, because they were putting her health as risk (making her feel like she could not stop to use an inhaler. She was told she was causing herself to have an attack to get out of practice). If this turns out to be the problem, make sure to get doctors' statements with the plan of action in case of an attack during sports. And make sure the plan is followed!
