Troy found out he is going to be losing his job soon. The department he works for is apparently shutting down. This will be the third time our family has experienced unemployment...and ALL 3 times due to a lay off of sorts or something "shutting down". Many people think healthcare is stable...please don't be fooled. We are both in healthcare and we thought Troy's job was stable. I am still in shock, not really hit by reality yet. When Troy comes home from work he will have more details. I just can't believe the hospital is shutting down the program he works for. Just CAN'T believe it!!! I am beginning to hate our HR department that has too much control over our healthcare system. They have NO CLUE what goes on yet they pick off people without thought. UGH!!! Please just pray for us. I am going to cry in a corner now, and I am sure Troy is not happy one bit. This is the first job he has found that he loves and provides for his family. I know God has a plan, but it is really hard to get through it when I don't know what it is.
Your family will be in my prayers. There are so many in the same situation right now. I have a son in law waiting to hear if his job will be there when school starts back. It is so hard not knowing. I hope your husband can find a job he likes even better than this one. Beth
I am so sorry to read this. I can't imagine. I will pray for your family, I honestly will. Stay strong...at least try to stay strong for you dh. I know both of you will need extra support right now.
FYI: I read earlier this year that one of the things included in the so-called 'stimulus' bill is a provision that employers must pay 80% of medical insurance premiums if the laid-off employee chooses the COBRA option to keep the employer's coverage. I believe the provision applies through the end of 2009, and there's a decent chance that Congress will extend it into next year. I don't know whether it will help, but it's worth knowing about.
praying for your family. I understand your worry and being upset. My dh is currently unemployed as well. And things don't look good around here. ((()))
Thank you for that info. I will have hubby look into it when he's at work. I am no fan of the stimulus bill on a whole, but if that is the case, then that part might just help us out. Thanks. Thank you everyone for your prayers. God WILL see us through, but this same old song and dance is just getting old with us. This will be the THIRD time our family has gone through this within the last 4 years. Once with me when the YW I worked for closed, and twice now with Troy due to layoffs. It's like we can't catch a break and it's getting exhausting.
Thanks Steve. I don't know what percentage we pay now, but Troy's boss did tell him about this too yesterday so we will keep this mind when that time comes.
