Anyone know of a free website that provides good spelling lists, with a weekly rule learned? All the lists I find seem to be rather random. I'd like to teach a rule each week, and have appropriate spelling words to match the rule.

    Thanks!

It is not free but have you looked at Spelling Power? They do a new phonics rule with each group. I like the program because you buy one book and can use it all the way through and do not have to buy something new each year. I also like the way they do the 10 steps to learn words the kids get wrong. You can often find the book used to save money.

I was going to say that sounds like spelling power. I love it, my kids are really learning to use the rules

We use the spelling lists at K12 Reader. They include a rule (short o, -ion, etc) as well as math, geography, and science words in each list.

I am using Spell By Color this year. It's free. Students use specific colored crayons to circle or underline words regarding the spelling rules. I do like it, but I will say this week (5) got a bit confusing with multiple rules/exceptions and colors.
