DSD went to a Christian preschool, then switched to our religion's preschool, then went to a public first grade and none of them worked for her. Homeschooling was our only option, she was beginning to be labeled as a "trouble child" when she is really very bright but needs a lot of one-on-one interaction. She was also beginning to hate learning, and falling behind at a fast rate! Homeschooling has changed all that.

If we can afford our religion's school we'll send our other kids there provided it is the best environment for them. I think ALL kids are different and learn their own special way. To say homeschooling is the ONLY option for everyone would be ridiculous. We plan on doing what works for our family and our children's learning styles.

My step-daughter's mom won't allow me to home school (we don't really get along).

I will be homeschooling Mackenzie until I'm unable to do it anymore.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I was just wondering and your answers have opened my eye to the various reasons to hs some but not all.

I have 3 kids. Dd15 will be a junior in high school. Dd12 will be homeschooling for 8th grade and will be trying out for performing arts high schools here in NYC. Ds8 will continue homeschooling and has no interest returning to school any time soon. The choice to homeschool has always been left up to the kids. All of them started out in school so they know what it's like - and even though I think homeschooling is more efficient, more fun, and more in-depth, I would never tell the kids they weren't allowed to give school another try if that's what they really wanted. Of course the decision is never made lightly and if it's school they choose, it's my job to find the best fit for them (we have hundreds of high school choices here).
