I have had steroid shots in my heels and was NOT prepared for the pain! It actually hurt worse at first than the problem they were treating! Quite a few years ago my kids were jumping off the bed onto an old matress when my son came to me with a darning type needle in his heel! To this day I have no clue how it was in the matress. I embroider but not with that size needle! No car and a house full of kids called for drastic measures and I pulled it out with the pliers. Yup, I did it! I've lanced finger nails in the past myself also. I credit the iron stomach to my mom who we still tease about the fact that her cure all was a bowl of hot water and epsom salts. My Jr. year in high school I fell in a small hole with my toes curled under. By the time my friends got me home, half of my foot was black. Out came the water and salts and my mom got back to cooking supper! I said something about it recently and she said she had to be that way to not break down. She had 5 kids and with all the crazy things we did ie. I sliced my face open on a coke bottle as a toddler, only 1 broken bone! My brother broke his arm trying to do gymnastics off the swing set. When my mom was young she had a matress frame fall on her head and it cut her scalp to the bone. When she went to tell my grandmother, she was brushed off. It think that is part of why my mom can react like she does.
