I've decided it is time for some spring cleaning.

I've also decided that it's such a big task I need encouragement, motivation and accountability. So I've set up a linky on my blog so others can join in too if they want and we can encourage each other.

Thought I'd share. And if you don't have a blog, FB or Twitter to link up, we can share here too.

I'm doing 2 rooms each week. This week it's the laundry room and hall bathroom. I've made a list for each room and posted them to google docs so you can print it out if you wish.

I just printed mine and I'm about ready to start cleaning!

Best of luck to you! I will be going home in 3 weeks and I will be cleaning out everything! We have been away from home for a while now and everything seems so cluttered so it will be boxed up and sent to Goodwill. I can't wait to declutter.

    I love decluttering!

That's my agenda for "Spring Cleaning" this year. I can't even considering doing a deep clean on anything until I get rid of stuff. We've got stuff everywhere!

It is happening unintentionally. I have not treated my wood furniture for years (bad me). So, as I am treating the wood, I have to take crap off of and out of the furniture. This is forcing me to go through some stuff that has just been building up. I classify myself as a shifter (learned from my mom). I don't clean as much as shifting the piles of "stuff" from one location to another. So, I always make it a goal to at least throw some stuff away or donate it when I am moving it around.

I have the same issue! I work so hard but the mess just moves from one place to another. My MIL is planning a big yard sale next month and I am determined to take lots of stuff over there.

A shifter! I never thought about what to call it, but that is us too! We have stuff everywhere and are starting to get rid of it little by little after many years of just moving it from one area to another. My goal for the new year was to get 50 things out of our house every month. Trash and recycled items don't count. So far I have gotten rid of way more than our 50 items a month, but we don't allow any carry overs from one month to the next so I have a few more to get out of here for March. Feb. we did over 200 things. Emily really helped by cleaning out her clothes and things she didn't want to keep. I really want to declutter because a move may be in our future after living here for over 30 years!

We call that "playing pilot" -- pile it over here, pile it over there, move the piles around...

I'm with Amie. I can't even think about cleaning until I find a way to get rid of the clutter. I "play pilot" a little too, but my dh could get a job with an airline.

Mine too! In fact, most of the "stuff" in our house belongs to him. He won't let me get rid of it. So, I just do with him what I do with the kids-I get rid of things I know he won't miss when he's not around. Ha!

I have started with the downstairs, windows, walls, etc. I'm upstairs today, winter clothes/summer clothes for the children right now. I'm also doing laundry and getting this organized with the clothes as I wash them. It will probably take me all spring and summer to do spring cleaning, so I won't be doing any fall cleaning.

Well I did great yesterday-Laundry room is almost finished! Today I even bought a pretty sun to hang on the wall for $1 :) (hubby got paid yesterday WOOOOHOOOO!)

I guess that's why I'm in spring cleaning mode-Hubby isn't around to help with the housework every day now! It's all on me again! LOL I mean I know I can do it-but he hasn't worked for 2 years so I have gotten quite used to his help.

Plus now we'll have money to leave the house and do things again! So I want to come home to a clean house, I want hubby to come home from a long day of work to a clean house, etc. His being out of work made ME lazy!

Sonita, this is just the incentive I've needed to get started! The weather has still been so cold and wet that I haven't even been able to open windows and air the place out yet. Usually by now we've had quite a few nice days with the yukky ones in between, but this year it's stayed pretty consistently in the 30's and 40's. Not many over 50 days, and most of them I've worked. :(

So today I bit the bull by the horn - after all, I only have 8 weeks til planting time - and joined you in your program. I cleaned my kid's bathroom and got it all done in one afternoon. I even fit school in as well (but them we're only doing K :)

I like this idea and hope I can stick with it. Tomorrow I am at least going to start the laundry room. I may finish or not depending upon the weather. Supposed to be sleet and rain and cold all day again tomorrow - good for cleaning and not much else. ;)

Thank you for this thread and your blog! I couldn't figure out how to connect onto FB, tho.

You ladies are inspiring! lol Here in WI it is still cold outside. I can't even think of 'Spring cleaning' until every inch of snow is melted and I can open my windows!!! I'm still wearing my Winter jacket and my heat is still on. Arg......

We had tons of snow yesterday! It had almost all melted too.

No spring cleaning here. Moving once a year tends to take care of the clutter and build up. Hoping to be in our current house until we move to Asia though.

That is exactly what happened here too! It all melted, finally, then we got hit again last night! Ahhhh! LOL It is melting again though, thankfully, but who knows with our weather if we will see 80 and sunny or more snow and 20's tomorrow!

Well, my forsythia has JUST bloomed, and this is the first snow. So I'm still expecting two more. Hopefully they both "hit the ground and melt" snows!
