Anyone have any experience with Steck-Vaughn's spelling or vocabulary? I like both, what few sample pages I can find. But can't find many pages or reviews on either.

Do you mean their newer Spelling: Linking Words to Meaning and Vocabulary Connections? I've had my eyes on both of those for awhile. I was close to ordering them last year but went with something else. But knowing me...I'll still be considering them when it's time for my next order. I wish I knew how necessary the TE is for the spelling. It's so expensive! Is it just the answers??...because that should be a no brainer. Sometimes RR samples are the pits! Pretty good reviews for both at Amazon....but no samples.

P.S: if these aren't the books you are talking about...then just disregard this. And, if they are...I'm not sure this was overly helpful.

Yes, these are the ones I am talking about. I was thinking of ordering them from RR and taking a good look at them and sending them back if I don't like them. And sending back the TG for the spelling if it's not needed. Thanks for trying to help. Let me know if you get them.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what grade you used it for? How about a little bit about it? Do I need the teacher's guide? Thanks!

We used it for 7/8th grade i USED THE 6TH AND 8TH CAUSE i GOT THEM FOR way cheap at our library sale.
I was not sure how we would like it but it had a list of words, and questions to go with, if I recall it has a story to go with that as well so the students can find the word's meaning thorugh usage as well as looking up in dictionary. I started using it consistently and faded off as the year got more congested for us because we had co op and other courses to go to. Because of this we did not finish the books, but really did enjoy the process. I had him do VOcab three days a week, if I recall correctly it was enough to complete a lesson a week that way. My ds has a very well rounded vocabulary now, it could be from doing that or just over all home schooling. I did not use a teachers guide. I read over his work and graded it.. sometimes I had to look up a word or two to see if it was correct. lol. But I think with your years of experience you can handle it.
