Well after Jackie shared her story, I had to share mine as well. We are on location at a golf course in New Rochelle in the RV as most of you know. At 3:15 a.m. this morning a police officer was pounding on our door. We had to go to the police station because one of the guys we brought with us to work (we have 4 young men working with us on this job) took our car and was driving around looking for drugs. Out of the 4, we gave one permission to drive the car. He followed us from GA. Bringing our car was easier and cheaper that getting a rental. The guy in question had a suspended license and was rooming with the driver. He waited until the other guy went to sleep took the keys and was picked up circling a seedy part of town known for drugs. He told the cop he was out getting cigarettes, he had a full pack in the car. He did not take his cell phone, he only had his wallet with some of cash in it. I had to go to the police station and give a statement that he did not have permission to drive the car and that we knew he had no license. Then we had to find the impound lot and pay to get our car back. He is now being charged with two felonies and is stuck here in New Rochelle for some time.
Yea, the police officer told him this morning he was fired. We did pay to get it out, but it will be coming out of the pay he had coming to him.
What is going on today??? My goodness there are some fools in this world. And I was mad and having a bad day because I had to sit in teh auto shop with rude service for 3 hours and then wait on dh to meet me at his parents. My day was a piece of cake compared to you and Jackie!
Wow, how crazy is that?! Sorry that happened to you timkelmom! Glad he didn't do anything to the car! OKAY EVERYONE----NO MORE OF THIS STUFF!!!
Yikes!! I'm so glad he was caught and I'm also really glad you can get the money back from getting the car back. I keep looking out my window to make sure MY car is still there. Yep.. hasn't floated away yet.
Im gonna slather my steering wheel with super glue and have a note on the inside of the windshield that states: " The steering wheel is slathered in super glue. The anti-adheasive is located at the local police department, third floor, detective Martinez. His number is: 555-1234. If you did not steal a cell phone before illegaly entering this vehicle honk five times and we will call for you! Have a nice day."
Thanks Deena. I'm really glad he didn't get caught with any drugs. Then they would have seized the car and what a mess that would have been. I agree, no more craziness.
wow, timkelmom, I am so sorry this happen to you all. I am glad they caught the guy, but man it's got to be hard to trust now. Take care..
Yeah. If he had the drugs, it would have been considered evidence or something! Where ARE people's brains?
Thanks Kris. We will be implementing background checks on any person we hire from now on. We usually give people the benefit of the doubt. We knew this guy had some problems, but he told us he was trying to turn his life around. He has actually gone to several AA meetings since he has been working for us. I don't know what happened.
I don't know Jackie. This is just proof to me that drugs really affect every aspect of your life. I guess his brain was simply fried after year of substance abuse.
I do feel a little bad for the guy. He had the cutest 3 y.o. son who he was trying to get to know. The mother had just started letting him see the kid again. I doubt he'll be seeing him for quite some time. That is a shame because it is the child who will suffer the most.
