I am so not prepared for the upcoming year! I planned to continue with MFW (Rome to Reformation), but have not been able to afford it.

We have had SO many medical expenses this spring/summer--ER trip and tests for DD12 when she had a ruptured ovarian cyst, ER visit/surgery/hospital stay for DH, ER visit and orthopedic appt. for DD9's broken arm, and just two days ago, ER visit/x-rays/CT scan and stitches for DH who passed out and fell face first on the concrete.

I have math and language arts curricula for everyone already (at least to begin with), so we can do SOMETHING, but I'm really nervous about this year! I just can't come up with a way to pull it together! I sold some curriculum in hopes of funding new, but all money that's come in has been needed! UGH!!

I have some things I need to get rid of, it won't be what you planned but it might help. In the restricted area look at my list... I do have more to add to it still as well. We could work something out... I just want to clear the clutter, I need it all gone.

Medical bills can really mess things up. We have been paying on our son's for years. What grades are you going to be doing this year?

I just looked through the book list, and it seems you can probably get all that, or an adequate substitute, at the library. You could at least stay on track to be able to move on next year when you're able to catch up financially. You can also look for free curriculum (curriculumshare.com or Book Samaritan, perhaps?).

Try not to worry too much. Another suggestion is to see if your school district has a surplus store. The district here has stockpiles of things they won't use (samples) or that have been retired. I've gotten everything from videos to books to desk chairs & filing cabinets for pennies of what they're actually worth. Even if you buy something like astronomy (because I see MFW using Apologia), you can teach critical thinking skills and Bible skills to refute the evolutionary concepts found in PS curriculum.

We have a terrible library. Most everything was lost in Katrina, and libraries haven't recovered. Well, it seems they have focused on restocking thousands of DVD's, but very few books! I am going to try to swing at least the TM, so I can do as much as possible.

I have one who will graduate this year, so he is the one I need to focus on the most. I'm going to go through what I have on my shelves today and see what I can find available online.

I'll make it work. I'm just nervous about it!!

    4th, 7th, 9th, 12th

I have math for all-- except Consumer Math, but I won't be needing it until later in the year. I am making ds review Alg. 2 first. I have Language Arts covered for all. I wanted Apologia Physical Science for my 9th Grader, but am going to see what I can find online. I do have a few of the MFW books, because some books carry over from one year to the next.

    High School Curricula

There is a ton of free public school stuff online. I have lots of links for high school stuff and would be happy to share if you give me an idea of what you need.

I just looked at the MFW booklist and don't have any of them :( Have you searched it used? Not sure the resale value but it's not cheap new for sure.

I have looked for it used. It's another if those with a really high resale value! I do have some of the books. I pieced it together last year and have been trying to do it this year. I do have the Apologia Astronomy and SOTW 2, as well as Streams of Civ and Ancient World. I found Galen and the Gateway to Medicine online through Google Books. So really, I do have a base. If I can get the TM, I think I can use the library and my own resources to at least get started. I can add materials as things settle down. (At least I hope they settle down!! I don't want to see the inside of an ER for quite a while if ever again!!).
