I'm looking to start a support group/learning group in my area for homeschooling. I can't seem to find one close by :???:

My family is supportive, but unfortunately my MIL is completely against the idea - and she's very vocal about it though thankfully not when the children are around. She's a retired elementary school teacher who used to work in a school filled with the underprivileged. She would complain everyday about her students and their parents. I really thought she would be supportive, but I guess not.

In my church there are only two other families homeschooling (we have a big church, too). I was thinking of putting up a flyer there, just in case more families were considering making the jump.

Do you all have any suggestions where I could start or even on how to start a support group?

    Thanks!!

    Jen

One good place to start is on HSLDA website. You can choose your state and then go to the city/county level to see who is near you. Here's their link:

    Good luck! :D
