I noticed on your blog that you are using this. It sounds cool! I was wondering if you could tell me something about it. Also, did you order it or get it at a bookstore? Anyone else using it? Thanks, Sabrina
It is a writing program designed for boys ages 6-13years old (ages vary on each title)that are reluctant writers, which in my experience is most boys that age group. I am sur it can be used for older boys too. The ones I have are heroes and hostages, and the other is called disgusting stomach-turning creepy-crawlers. I know there is many other title though, these just happen to be the ones we are trying this year. Heroes and Hostages opens with a mission: Four of your son's favorite men have been abducted by the notorious archenemy! And only one person can save them...your son! For no one knows that, by day, he may be a mild-mannered boy, but by necessity he becomes a world class superhero! Join him as he retells escapades encountered when he rescues the innocnet, rectifies the wrongs, and returns to "normal" once again! In this one he creates a paper bag mystery book, and works through the steps of creating a story from character development, using a thesaurus, learning power words, developing a story line etc. Disgusting stomach-turning creepy crawlers is a little different. This one uses many styles of writing, so for example, a stoamch-turning stink roach descriptive myth is one assignment, another is a stomach-turning blood and gore carnivore rhyme etc. Each of the titles is written with boys in mind. My DD is doing the creepy crawlers one, but usually wouldn't be using these items. No journal prompts of your favorite summer holiday, or an assignment telling you write the directions to bake a chocolate cake. These catch the attention of boys for sure. It is actually a curriculum written by a woman in Calgary so most people int eh states likely haven't heard about it though many of the families in my local hs group have used it at some point over the years they hs'd their boys. I am also very interested in it. Do you know where we could order it from? Elliot is does not like writing, or atleast I haven't found anything that catches his attention. This could right up his alley.
Ours is a "Marvel" household so he could SO get into that! I am definitely looking this up. Thanks, Sabrina
