Tiff, I agree with you too. The actual cleaning out the toilet I don't see as any big deal, but cleaning it out with feces in it with his hands....that's over the top. You don't know what kind of diseases are lurking in there. Perhaps having him clean all the toilets out within the school like the janitor would, would have been more appropriate.

I also wouldn't let someone else spank my child. However, I don't NEED to because I discipline my children. They are well behaved for other pople because I do my job. Some parents sadly do not do their job. I have had plenty of preschool kids who needed a firm whack on the tush. If it would have been legal to spank them, I would have.

ETA: I am just wondering what is all "truth" though. Did the kid stick his hand in the toilet on his own and run out of the bathroom screaming to get the teacher in trouble? Those things, and impotant details are what I want to know before jumping to a conclusion. Kids are just too smart and think of ways to frame others these days. I just wont believe every detail until thre are more facts out there. That article didn't give many and it leaves way too much room for interpretation and guessing.

Good points, Jen. We can't always assume the teacher is the monster. We don't know the whole story. I suppose the teacher may have told the kid he would have to clean it out and the kid may have misinterpreted. I don't know. Sounds a bit unlikely...but we cannot always assume the teachers are at fault. My fil was a teacher for many years in the inner city. He had many female students offer to sleep with him for a grade. Not saying that he isn't responsible for his own actions...please no...not saying that. Just saying that sometimes the students aren't so innocent. He even knew of a girl who claimed sexual harrassment of a teacher and lied. So, it happens on both ends.

If the teacher actually did it, then she deserves some jail time and to be sued by the parents. There are many diseases that kid could get from playing in human stool, especially from a public bathroom, not to mention parasites that he could get. Its a health risk to stick your hands in human waste. Not to mention the emotional trama for being the kid with his hands in the potty.

I think if a teacher did something like this it is akin to child endangerment and abuse. Think about it, if we as parents did something like that the state would call it abuse and likely remove our kids from our homes. I think if she did it, she deserves all she gets and then some.

This is a sad story. I feel bad for the child. I know there are malicious kids out there, and I know children don't always tell the truth, but I also know that children will clog up toilets by accident.

I can't post the link but here is one report from the local newspapers. This is from the Channel 9 WAFB Baton Rouge website.
