Lindina, do you remember the Alice and Jerry books? Similar to Dick and Jane, but I liked them better when I was a kid. I bought one a while back from a garage sale....

Vaguely. Was that the ones which followed one family from pioneer days through to about the early 40's/50s as you go up through the grades? We used one series like that when I was in school. I liked those.

We definitely had the Ginn Basics in first grade, though! Tom and Betty and Susan, Susan's dolls Bunny and Patsy, the pony named Pony, and Flip the dog.

Old Fogeys Club -- the line forms on the left, thank you, oldest first! That's probably me! I turned 60 my last birthday (and proud of it!).

  I'm having a blast teasing my hubby lately. I shouldn't probably, but it's soooooo fun. ;) He thinks I'm weird because I was excited to turn 30 a couple of years ago - he hated it!

I'm telling you, I'd never want to go backwards. Bring it on!

As a side note, I'm also having fun teasing my parents. They both turn 50 this year.... They were YOUNG parents with me, so now they have 7 grandkids (and one on the way! not me...) and still have a kid in school. :p

I'm 45 so I guess I belong in the oldies club too!

When I was in elemantary school our library had the old Ginn Basic readers. I loved those books and checked them out ofter. When I was pregnant with my oldest son I bought a few of them at a garage sale. I believe that they helped my son to start reading so young. He was only two when he started reading. I do have to admit that my husband and I both read alot to him. He started doing phonics workbooks at 3 years old because his older cousin was doing homeschool homework then and he wanted to learn everything too!

I still have those readers in the attic. I'm saving them for my future grand kids!

Me TOO! I was so excited to turn thirty back in January. Bring it on people. Thirty means I'm a mature adult now.
