Anyone know if the CD bundle be used stand alone in Algebra 1? (without the textbook) I have an opportunity to buy the CD's alone at a fair price and need to switch out of SOS for DD in Algebra. It isn't explaining enough and it looks like TT does cover that aspect very very well.
    Thanks!
    Thanks!

I don't know about the algebra but the level five we bought has been working as a stand alone. I think its an either or program. I don't really need the book at all. Hope this helps. The cds have the lessons/lectures and then practice problems, and questions each unit is followed by a quiz. So its pretty thorough. Plus they get two chances to get the right answer and if they get it wrong they can go back and walk through the question with step by step oral narration and diagrams.

We're using 7th grade right now, we like having the workbook b/c it omits transcription errors when working on problems. But I know we don't NEED to have the book. We just LIKE having it.

I know the upper levels have the CD's and a Solution Set. The solution set of CD's goes through the solutions of every problem.

You might want to contact TT, they are EXTREMELY friendly, and very pro to the lending and reselling of their product, which makes them one of my favorite companies to work with!

For Algebra, unless you have the brand new set that just came out you do need the book. The student doesn't answer on the computer like they can in levels below pre-alg. They watch the lesson on a disk and then they use the workbook to do their work, then check it in the solutions manual and if they want to see how to do a problem they can watch the solution cd.

Now they just came out with pre-alg and alg in a new format which seems to be the same as the lower levels... where you really can get away without having the textbook. You watch the lecture then can go through the problem set on the computer using a notebook or scrap paper to work your problems.

In any case, esp if you can get a cheaper price for it used, I totally feel TT is worth the cost.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that!!! It means my resale value on the ones I have just went way down!!! Well, if three kids use it, it's well worth the cost!

(Sommer is right about needing the book, btw!)
