This is the email I JUST got from the guy. Sorry guys....

Honestly, I just downloaded it and burned them. Here's instructions on downloading a torrent with 27 languages in various levels..

first download a torrent downloading program, I recommend:

    UTorrent
    http://www.utorrent.com/downloads

    or Azerus
    http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php.

Once your bittorrent client is installed, download the ISO for Rosetta Stone

    Link deleted - _Languages__41_Levels._FIX.3496724.TPB.torrent.

You will need Winrar to extract the files, and languages. It's important that you read the instructions.txt file, it explains what files need to be copied. If you don't understand how to make it work, send me an email, keep in mind, I get like 20 emails a day for this, so it may take a while.

*This email is copy and pasted to everyone whos emailed me about rosetta stone for homeschooling*

:( I got my email this morning too.

Sad to know the guy was not legit.

Sad to know that they're stealing from Rosetta Stone.

    Sigh.

Now I'm confused! He KNEW they weren't legit when he sent them out? Or did he just now realize it?

What he says you have to do is download it. That's where he got HIS copy from - not his company. Once you download it and install it (again PIRATED COPY) - it would run just like the normal version.

On my laptop I could laser print "Rosetta Stone" on a CD and it wouldn't look anything like a copied version.

I didnt have to down load anything and it didn't ask me to.. the program I HAVE will NOT RUN with out the cd in the tower so...again, I dont know.

I have his contact info and all emails so Im not going to stress over it. Whats done is done.

its weird though that he'd admit that in an email and risk being turned in.....

Since I never gotten any spam through my mail or email he will probably just throw it away. Or send out the copy anyways. If you don't want it then throw it away. I can't afford $600 for a program can any of you? My copy actually says Rosetta Stone on it and it is not on a burned disc. If you are that offended by it then just throw it away.

I'm keeping mine if I could have afforded $600 for a program then I would have bought it then asking for a free one. It even has his company interface on it.

I talked with my husband last night about this situation. He is the IT guy where he works and they have Rosetta Stone at their office. I explained the situation. He explained a bunch of stuff to me about how the license works and stuff like that. I won't go into it all but the bottom line is that it is software piracy (software theft) and is illegal. I also know that Rosetta Stone is aware of this situation.

What you do or don’t do with your copy is totally up to you. I, as well as others here, am simply trying to inform everyone that what is happening isn’t legit. I think this issue can be laid to rest now.

Just be aware that every time you copy something from online whether it be text off a webiste or a picture that is indeed piracy. If you take something that is not yours and save it to your computer then it is theft. So don't judge me and I won't judge you. But remember that if you had a problem with it to begin with then why did you ask for the email or email him. You yourself knew the risk and took it anyways.

ok.. I really think that all that needs said on this subject is done.. I'm gonna ask Amy to lock all the threads on this topic.

I have seen way too much drama on this board and it always stems from people judging one another.. and I can totally see this going in that direction.

Well, that is too bad...especially since the guy knew it was VERY illegal and for stirring up trouble with people that my not have realized. I knew from the get go that this was not legit, but whatever.

you need to be very careful of things that seam to not be true, I would hate to see anyone load bad software to their computer and to find they have problems down the line......... also E-mails, be careful with those too.

as imformative as this post started out being I will now close it because I don't think the structure of the information being helpful anymore but more criticizing.......
