Anyone read this? It's by Theodore E. Wade and others.

One of hubby's realitives who homeschools cleaned her shelves and brought us 2 big boxes of books... this was in it. It seems like a big read. I will read it because I read anything homeschooling that I can get my hands on.. but if you have read it maybe you can give me your take on it??? What I looked at kind of intimadated me.. not sure why, and I didn't read more than 20 words or so flipping through the entire book..lol.

Come on ladies.. someone else must have read this book..lol

I have skimmed it a bit more, and find the man to have a very school oriented mind.. and keeping up with what the public school kids are up to thoughts.

There really is tons in it to digest, so it will be a long slow read I'm afraid.

I read it many years ago.
It must not have made an imperssion on me because I don't really remember it and I don't own it ( I am a book junkie and I only own books that I truly loved).
    Sorry.

Thanks Crystal. I have read yet a bit more.. and honestly don't think I can read it all the way through. The man is definately not an openminded homeschooling person.. he is a teacher/professer, and it says that his children "have received a part of their education at home".

He is very into homeschooling should look like school in the institutional setting.. and even give examples of very rigid all day long schedules.

Curiousity may get the best of me, and I may read it.. if only to reinforce my commitment to totally ditch the school look from our home.

I DID read it all the way through (I think - it is a large blue/white book, right?) Anyhow, I did not care for it AT ALL! It was written just like it says, a manual, on what he THINKS homeschooling is, and I did not agree with or approach homeschooling his way. It made me actually wonder if he even knew what he was talking about. I'd say donate it to a library or something. Don't waste your time.
    I hope this helps!

    Thanks Gwenny!!

I read the first ummm like 2 chapters last night while watching the kiddos play outside. There were times my blood was boiling soooo much I could have torn the book in half..lol.

You are right.. the writes what he THINKS he knows about homeschooling, and honestly doesn't know a single thing about homeschooling and how we work!

I will continue reading.. mostly because it helps me reconfirm that the way we are changing things up is totally what I am supposed to be doing..lol.

Yea, Sommer those kind of books I don't read, like other manuals unless nothing else works then I go to the manual.

Sounds like a book that needs a match or trash can.

Who needs a manual to homeschool?

I love reading books on methods.. but think that homeschooling mamma's have got the touch for writing something that is pertinent to our endeavors.

This book will definitely not be passed on.. as I consider it smut.. I will put it in the recycling bin when I finish reading it.. it in no way will stick around my house as a reference.
