I was checking out some stuff on Easy Peasy (mainly subjects I'm not wanting to spend too much money/time on right now... like science/history/art/music/PE/ect). The history seems above Em's current level so I poked around in science and came across Mr. Q's website of free science (downloadable books/newsletters/ect). Does anyone use this for science? Thoughts?
If I remember correctly, I think Mr. Q's Life Science is the only free one. I believe the others cost something...not sure what. I started reading the Life Science one to dd and she's enjoyed it. Didn't get very far yet mostly because I forget about it (I generally don't do very well with things that are read off the computer....kinda like out of sight (site, LOL!) out of mind).
We used bits and pieces of the Life Science about 5 years ago. I remember liking it. He intentionally keeps biases out of it....from what I recall. We get his emails, and every once and a while do his experiments that he sends out...usually more for fun than for school. I like him!
My daughter really enjoyed the life science for 3rd grade. I printed off the entire student book (full service copier/printer at employers office) so she could read through the chapters herself and write on the worksheets. He does keep the biases out, and includes some funny pictures and comments that kids enjoy. My daughter would ask to do science because she liked this workbook so well. We only did a few of the projects, just because I didn't have time to prepare for them.
