We keep getting these "SAMPLE CD" pacages with a CD and I guess its a catalogue, sort of in a really high level of learning.. maybe even college from the looks of it. Has lectures on different things.... Just curious, its in dh's name so I know I did not order it, but wondering where they got our name haha!
I will watch the cd eventualy here, have aonother one here too, but if its anythign good history wise I will have dd watch it cause she loves history!

    Does anyone else get these?

I've gotten them before but I've never used them, or even looked at them to be honest. It reminds me of this "tele-course" I took in college...not that it was bad or anything - but totally uninspiring.

I'm probably wrong about my first impression, but my son is too young to do that stuff anyway and it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over priced.

I don't know how they sell anything.

It really depends on the lecturer they have. I've found that most I've listened to are excellent, engaging and informative. Every once in awhile they're downright exciting too. Any lectures on Ancient Egypt by Bob Brier are wonderful. He's really passionate about the subject and that comes across. Theory of Evolution: A History of Controversy was a fantastic course as well that took a direct but respectful look at evolution and it's opponents (gave me a new respect for creationists).

They are expensive though so check out your local library or used curriculum lists first.

But I'd definitely reccomend checking them out. Some are dry but many others are REALLY worth using.

We have a few of these courses. Never buy them at full price, they rotate what is on sale and all titles are on sale at some point during the year. We also found a title used from another homeschool list. We watched and enjoyed Joy of Thinking, it was awesome! We're about to start Joy of Science, and another whose title I can't recall but it is about neuroscience and the brain.
