At the end of it, the mom is basically admitting she went overboard. Calling your kids names? Come on, this is absurd! I do think that sometimes we (myself included) are too lenient, but that is just too strict. There has to be a balance.
I agree that there has to be a balance. I want my children to be mature, responsible, kind, honest, loving men, but I also want them to be children.
I think she is a bit extreme. But I think all parents are probably too lenient in some areas and too strict in others.
