My ds is a senior, i'm working on putting together his transcript, he starts applying to colleges soon so I can't procrastinate any longer. I was just wondering if ya'll have any tips thanks!
I downloaded the templates from the HSLDA website. To it I'm adding volunteer hours with the goal of some sort of citizenship recognition. I'm also including missions trips, but not sure how to credit them yet.
I found examples on-line, and plugged her grades into it. She needed them last srping when I transfered her to the on-line school. Very irritating, because I had to send them a copy FIRST, and then they sent me a form, telling me I had to transfer her grades onto THEIR form. Why couldn't they have just given it to me in the first place, I'll never know! Oh, plus I had to give them a form, which had to be processed and sent back to her former school (ie: me) so that I knew I gave myself permission to send them the transcripts. Sigh....
I used Homeschool Tracker +. It made a great transcript for sd when she was applying to college. It figures out the GPA and everything for you.
I am going to start making transcripts for Ems starting next year. I will use one of HSLDAs template.
If your not sure of all the credits he has earned or need some more, think about whatever he has done in his own "free" time to the extent that he learned a lot and dedictated many hours to it. My son is earning a history credit without an official class. He has studied history his whole life (practically). We are also studying it together for another credit. Another credit or two I will be giving him will be ballistics. He has read, watched, and done so much in this area he is just about an expert (no exaggeration). Depending on how much his typing improves over the year by posting on forums and typing papers- I may give him a semester or year of a typing credit. You can also document any volunteer stuff and extracurricular stuff.
I just found a transcript creator. I wish I had found this a few years ago when I started transcripting my son's high school courses. It's located @ http://www.howtohomeschooltoday.com/transcript_creator
