My plan is to switch to Saxon at that time. I've still got a few years to change my mind but....that's my laid out plan.
My accountant used calvert but I'm not sure exactly which curriculums she used. Her ds graduated last year. I'ld ask her for you but I know she is REALLY busy right now - tax time. If you want I could find out at a later point when things settle down for her.
Saxon is just math. They have a test you can do on their site to see what level your child should start in. I think it's a good curriculum, even though my oldest disliked it immensely (he hates repetition!). But my middle, ds13, really likes it! We don't do all the stuff they say to do. This year it's not been too hard for him, so he's done it more on his own. I just found a good deal for the Algebra 1 with the DIVE cd, so I got that for him. That way he can watch the cd if he has troubles, and maybe be able to work some of them out on his own by watching how they do it on the cd (or is it dvd?) dd is not sure whether she likes it or not. We are still working on strengthening her multiplication skills, so going slowly. But that's okay, it's more important she get that than move ahead in her book! She's right at the point where I was left behind---I didn't understand something, but the teacher moved on anyway with the class, and nobody had time to help me really understand it, so I just got further and further behind. I'm not going to let that happen to her!
Deena, We are having trouble with multiplication also. How are you going about strengthening your daughter in those skills? I need some new ideas. Beth
I talked to my accountant friend and she switched to American Schools after Calvert. She said that it was an excellent transition. They have been in business over 100 years. She also said their is two different ways to buy the curriculum and it is very challenging. Myself I had never heard of it but she said it worked for them. Hope this helps.

I just jumped right in, huh? Beth, for the last two weeks she's watched her DIVE video, done timed multiplication sheets, and worked to better her time each time, Wrap-Ups, and tomorrow we're going to start jump-roping to the times tables. She's doing better than she was, and is enjoying a little break from the book-work, but I just don't want to move on until she has it! That's a good thing about homeschooling! Once she gets it, I think she'll fly through much of this stuff that was taking her so long!
Deena, my friend that is fine that you jump right in.. I think it's great.. But, remember I am weird... I enjoy people helping me out when they can....
