I found this today and think it's a great idea, I wish more companies would do this http://www.pandiapress.com/index.htm
I'm not able to get them. I get the page telling what's supposed to be in them, but when I click on them, it doesn't go. Might have to try from another computer maybe.
It did that to me the first time, it took about 3 minutes and it got to them. I think it's b/c the files are so large.
I got it to work. I was an idiot. I don't know how many times it said you need Adobe Reader. I didn't realize my computer wasn't using Adobe REader. Working now. Pretty hefty samples. Most companies will give you a chapter or piece of a chapter, these look like they're giving you whole chapters. Very cool. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah I know, they said it's enough for a few weeks worth of lessons. I think it's great they give so much.
The science at Pandia intrigues me, I have been "mulling over" the chemistry for Garrett, but am afraid it may be too simple for him... I just don't want to waste the money.
I wish more companies would do that too! It drives me nuts when a company has a sample up and it's just the title pages stuff, intro an no sample lesson - I mean come on - why show me the title page of a book!!
Bob Jones gives out entire portions of their books to review before buying as well, and although I have never used them myself, I always keep them in the back of my mind because I have been able to search through the books and they look very well done. In fact, I think most companies offer enough to get a good evaluation. I refuse to buy anything that doesn't at least have an entire chapter or unit available for evaluation before buying - unless people I trust have reviewed it thoroughly and I can imagine it would fit us. The whole title page and table of contents "sample" doesn't fly with me at all. In fact, it ticks me off and I won't even consider purchasing it.
This truly has a great sample, I think the Chemistry is 5 whole lessons. You could test it out and see how he does with it and have maybe a month or two's worth of lessons, to be sure.
Yeah.. I think I will be using this to at least get us started... I'm still clueless, and this keeps coming back to me... some things are just meant to be I guess.
While it looks simple, I've seen it used, with supplements, in a group setting with logic age kids (5th and up). I've also seen it used with PreK kids. From what I've seen it's a curriculum that can be as simple or hard as you want it.
