    Good morning everyone!

I am searching for info on all the US presidents to prepare for a "presidents" theme we want to do. I found a few things at abcteach.com, but wondered if any of you knew any websites I could try.

    Thanks!

How about seeing if you can find some placemats that have the Presidents on them? We got some for not much at all, and it had lots of info. about each president! I think it cost $1.29 or $1.79, something like that. We have one on the solar system and one on the earth (with all the countries) also! They've all got a LOT of info. on them! We've used those for a long time---a nice, cheap learning tool that my kids really enjoy!

Yaaay, I hope you find what you're looking for! I just love those placemats! The kids, on their own, started quizzing each other during mealtimes on the statistics found on their placemats....I LOVED that! :D I wasn't pushing it down their throats from a boring book, they WANTED to do that, and made it into a fun game, and still remember many of those facts.

One day my dc were really going with the quizzing from the placemats. Breakfast took a long time cuz they were so into it. When it came to our normal time for history/geography, I said, "Let's move on to the next subject, you've already done this one" their faces registered blanks. "Huh?" They hadn't even realized they were learning, but while listening to them, I realized that they were learning more that morning than what the lessons would have covered! It was great!

I feel like an idiot! I got the presidents, US map, and the world map placemats at Walmart and hung them behind the girls work area so they can see them or flip them over to read the back where the facts are. Duh!?! Now I get it. Put the placemats on the table. Wow! What a concept. Use it for what it was made for and let the kids do the rest. I will get this homeschooling thing right one of these days. If it wasn't for you guys pointing me in the right direction I would probably have two very unhappy girls on my hands. I thought we just did school at home the way they do it in school. How wrong could I have been! The more I learn the more excited I get to start. Tomorrow is our big first day. I hope you will be praying for us as we take our first steps to a new beginning. Baby steps at first as I reclaim my daughters! Thank you all so much for all I have learned here.

This list has been great for a give me an eye opener kind of thing too! reminding me of the simplicity of home school teaching, how to get the lessons taught and still enjoy it!
I get to pick up my SOS today for Johnny and will put it on my lap top so it can come with us wherever we go!
I am doing both Life Paks and SOS for dd , so we will take books with us and leave her SOS on big computor at home.

We use those placemats everywhere (the table, for painting projects, hanging on the wall, etc). I love them too!

Here is the www.whitehouse.gov site for some info!

Never mind...I see it was already posted above!

I can't wait to go get the placemats. I hope I can find them! That is a great way to learn some facts...altogether at the dinner table!

I tried the US Pres. Trivia Game, and missed 3. Not TOO bad, maybe the placemat quizzes have rubbed something off off on me! :)

Rats Leslie! I haven't looked for them for ages, so I'm not sure. You could call them and ask, maybe?

Hey! I have a couple of interesting things I have learned about 2 presidents - anyone have any more?
    Here are mine -
    1. 17th pres. Andrew Johnson was a taylor and made most of his own clothes.
    2. Theodore Roosevelt never used the word "I" during his inaugural address.

    I love History!

At Wal-Mart here, they are in the section with the kitchen towels, oven mitts, etc. They are on a rack at the end of the shelf. Yours may not be in the same place. I'm not sure what section you looked in.
