netflix lets you do a free month trial you know? Just to let those who are considering it know at least! check it out!
Well if I went and rented a movie at the only movie store we have in town here it is $4 for one night. So, $29 a month is not that bad for us.
yep, in fact it means you can watch one today, send it back tomorrow morning and get one the next day or so, watch that, , we litterally can watch 6 a week not counting the online ones!
We use redbox alot for filling in when there is nothing on the boobtube and when we don't have a movie to watch from netflix. Redbox is $1 a night.. we might get one a week or so.
We are very fortunate to have joined Netflix at the very beginning (in 2000) we have a program that they don't even offer anymore. We can have 5 out at a time for a very low price. What I like best though are the instant view movies. I have several on my list. There is a whole nature series and you view them right on your computer instantly, no DVD needed. You do have to download the content though and if you don't have a fast connection it can take a while (dial-up would take forever). This is good for us because since we travel we can not take advantage of the Netflix program the same way. My MIL gets the DVD's at the house in GA and we are able to use the on-line viewing from the road. We both get to take advantage of one membership. Netflix has some really great stuff that can be used for school. Thanks for starting this thread.
Some titles that might be beneficial can be found by: 1. go to the page where you view your queue. 2. click in where is says Genres 3. under that heading you will see a category named Special Interest. 3. under that another category named homework Help. 4. under Homework Help there are several categories to choose from. I hope that helps. Also in the search engine you can just type in a specific topic of interest and that should find you some titles.
I think I might up to the 4 at a time so I can do more school stuff. Right now we have 3 at a time.... 1 for ds, 1 for dd, and 1 for dh & I or family night. DD still likes some of the Barbie movies and things my Jame Bond loving ds would never watch. So we do those to appease them some (they wake up at 5am and need to do something!!) I love watching the movies and I love having a video for some "down-time" when I really just can't do school.
works great for us! We have one for each except when dd plays with the list and then we get lots of chick flics all on one day! which us two gals love! HAhA!
oh and if you find a disc messsed up when it gets there ( rarely happens but has a couple times) we were not even sure if it was our falt or not but they replace it even before they get it! you just go online and let them know its faulty and they send another that gets there the next day!
Here is a list of the plans you can pick from. Right now we are doing 4 at a time, but I am going to decrease it as soon as the new-ness wears off. You can also watch movies instantly online, which is really nice. We just joined, I hadn't even thought of using it for school...thanks for the idea!! * 1 DVD out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $8.99 a month * 2 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $13.99 a month * 3 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $16.99 a month * You are currently on this plan: * 4 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $23.99 a month * 5 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $29.99 a month * 6 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $35.99 a month * 7 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $41.99 a month * 8 DVDs out at-a-time + unlimited instant watching $47.99 a month Netflix Limited Plans * 1 DVD out at-a-time (limit 2 rentals a month $4.99 a month
To those who don't use netflix and are wondering.. the movies come FAST. We sent out on Monday, get on Wednesday, sent on Thursday get on Saturday. The only day they don't work is on Saturday... but if we send out on Sat, they send out to us on Monday and we get on Tuesday. ETA... there are times that we have to wait for a movie, if there isn't one locally available. Usually when that happens they send the next one on our list, and then the one we are waiting on arrives and we have 3 at a time.. with no extra charge.
What's also really cool is if you time it right they will send new releases out on Mondays so that you actually get them on Tues. when they are released.
Yep.. we just sent back The Tale of Despereaux and Bedtime Stories We wanted Marly and Me next, but there is now a wait on it
We live about 3 miles from one of the Netflix centers. My turn around is less then a day. I send it out Monday ,they get it Monday, they send it out by 5pm ,I get it Tuesday afternoon!! I have had Netflix for over 5 years now and I will NEVER go back to the brick and mortar stores!! Its crazy paying $4.00 a movie, plus I like that there is no late fee. It takes forever for my DH to watch a movie sometimes, so it helps that I can keep one forever and not worry about fees.
Yeah, that happens sometimes. If you don't get them right away, then they can go to very long wait quickly.
I feel the same way. I really enjoy Netflix. It is less expensive to get my movies this way than paying for pay channels like Show Time or Starz too. I think it is really great that you get them so quickly.
I only go to the stores to purchase the ones i have had on netflix that I think .. I love that I want to watch it again an dagain, so I buy it Lol usually for 5 dollars or less at wal mart lolo
Thanks Sommer! I honestly did not know so much could be found at Netflix for school. I will have to join up! THAnks!
We canceled our movie channels and are going to stick with Netflix. I found a ton of things on Oceans that we are going to watch in the coming weeks (our science theme). I signed up on Wednesday, Stroker Ace (old Burt Reynolds racing movie that DH wanted) and bedtime stories were mailed out yesterday and came today.
Yeah.. I think I may have to hit Redbox tonight..lol. I really want to see that one, but with 3 movies coming out this week that we wanted to see, I gave in and let the kids movies over rule... "sigh"
