Ok so every vacuum I have bought in the last 7 yrs. has been a total piece of junk. I have to unscrew all of the hoses from the stinking thing and clean them out every time I use the thing. And I could understand if I had say a big dog that sheds all of the time but until recently I didn't have any fur babies. So in you guys opinion what is the best vacuum that doesn't get clogged and that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My poor back can't handle a houseful of carpet much longer.lol:roll: Thanks

Dyson! I love mine. I have had it for about three years and it works just as good as the first day I bought it. I love the onboard hose and tools, it is very light to haul around and it has suction! I also own a kirby and I don't think that it works nearly as well as the dyson. My dh just told me yesterday how I have saved alot of money with the dyson by not having to buy bags.

I just bought a Bissell for about $150 and it works a lot better than I thought it would. I was going to purchase an Oreck because I have been happy with the carpet cleaner we have from them, but decided to go cheaper on the vacuum and also buy a cordless for the cars and quick clean up around the house and garage. So far I have been satisfied with the new vacuum. At first I was hesitant because $150 is a lot for a vacuum that doesn't work. So I just assume go higher and get a better vacuum but this is actually a good vacuum.

I have been blaming my kids for breaking every vacuum I buy! I had no idea other people had this problem. I have to completely dis-assemble mine every time I use it. I always heard you get what you pay for. Maybe I have to bite the bullet and go with a Dyson too. how much do they usually run?

I paid $3??. I can't remember the exact amount, I just know that it was in that range. I agree that they are so worth it. I bought mine at sears, it was a floor model. If you go there you can try one out.

I just bought a cheap CHEAP vacuum at walmart last summer for like $48 ? or something like that, the first time I used it I COULDN'T believe the stuff I got out of my carpet. I took it to my mother in law's last weekend, and my goodness was that carpet dirty!
I never thought a cheapie would clean like it does.
I think WM has a pretty good return policy. You could try one and if it doesn't work good, return it.
Oh, I thought it was a Bissel too. Can't remember right off, it's a blue color and it's bagless, Love it, and light weight too.

This is my first time buying a Bissell but so far so good. We also have four dogs. Two are usually outside during the day while the two smaller ones are indoor dogs. As much as I love our dogs, I can't stand the dog hair. So we vacuum everyday. This vacuum picked up so much more than our old one.

use a broom for the inbetween times. Its just easier.

I have all the kids go around and pick up the "big stuff" before we use our Bissel I think we got it at K-mart for about $60 Its been pretty good, I like we can use the hose for sucking the dust off the ceiling fan.
Its got the blue writing and lever to release the collection bin.

I had the $49 Bissell from Walmart. It wasn't great for me, and impossible on the stairs. We have a Eureka now (about $70, I think)- one with the stair attachment (useless!!). I have to clean it out after every room, because it stops up and loses suction.

My sister called my this morning, becasue she was on her way to buy a new vacuum for the same reason!!

I love the stair attachments on the new vacuum. I do not have stairs but obviously use it for other areas. The second I turned on the vacuum, the beater bar in the attachment took off and picked up way more than I thought it would. My last vacuum had stair attachments and it didn't have any power. The beater bar would stop spinning if I put to much pressure on it. But this attachment is great! The vacuum says that is has 2x the suction and power. It really does.

How funny! We are going through vacuums at an incredible rate here. We have been in our house 7 1/2 years and are looking for vacuum #4. I was blaming the dog hair. DH is perplexed. I'm sending this to him so he can see it is not just us!

Kirby was way too heavy, not self propelled and my back was killing me.
    Hoover Wind Tunnel died
Bissell Momentum, our current one. First bagless. Hate having to clean the filters. Picks up an incredible amount of dirt. But it has developed a very loud, high pitched whine. It sounds like an airplane engine and is obviously running at too high rpms. Kills my ears everytime I use it.

I am planning to get the Dyson Ball All Floors. I know it is bagless, and you do still have to some filter maintenance, but the 5 year warranty alone is worth it. Everyone I know loves theirs. I am going to wait for a 20% or maybe even 30% off coupon from Kohls and get it. After doing the math, that seems to be the best deal. Although if the Bissell dies before then I'll just go to Amazon.
