I wanted to ask if any of you have done Valentine's Parties for your homeschool group... cause I would like to pick your brains! ;)

I am planning a V-day party for about 35 kids right now, between the ages of oh... 1-15? We will have a good space to use at the base chapel, and everyone is contributing with snacks, drinks etc... and everyone is willing to help with crafts and games, my problem is finding enough games and activities that will appeal in some way to all of these ages. Impossible you say? I surely hope not! :D

I did the Christmas party for our group this last December and it was crazy... but such fun! I am hoping that I can come up with enough things to keep the little ones busy, busy, busy... and make some wonderful memories for them.

Any ideas? I have a few, but would like to hear what you think.

    Thanks,
    Anna

In the past, our valentines parties have included games, crafts and a mailbox decorating contest (boxes completed at home). We always divided the crafts by ages- some for the younger ones and others for the older ones. Teenagers usually helped with the younger ones. Are you looking for specific crafts and games?

Fill a jar with tiny hearts & have the kids guess how many. Winner gets the jar. (We always did one with Kisses for the moms, too.)

Tissue Hearts: Cut heart chapes from construction paper and let the kids decorate with torn pieces of tissue paper.

Thumbprint heart pictures (2 thumbprints together to look like a heart)- can be made into a card

Move tiny hearts with chopsticks- Have a huge bowl of the tiny hearts. Allow two children at a time to race to see how many they can pick up & move to a plate with chopsticks (for 30 sec. or so).

    Cookie decorating

That's all I can think of right now....

    we're doing one...

We're doing a story hour...last year our story was the one about St. Valentine and why we celebrate. Also, this year we're doing some book that is a companion to the spread the bread cookbook - and we're all bringing a loaf to donate.

We're going to have a Heart Health Station where there will be games, info about the human heart.

We're having a valentine bag station where we'll decorate bags that will become the kids "mailboxes" for their Valentines.

We're also having a Valentine cookie decorating station (that's going to be 'dessert').

Hope that gives you some ideas! :D

There are printables that you could make animals out of hearts.

games we did pin the arrow on the heart. That was blast. Another one is take the words Happy Valentine Days give them a time limit and see how many words they can get out of there. we put red hots (candy) in a clear glove and played hot red candy like hot potato.

you can have cupcakes or cookies made not frost and let them frost there own cupcakes or cookies and put spinkles on them.

Last year at our party the younger kids made the cotest picture frames. They got plain dollar store frames and glued puzzlw pieces to them. They took polaroids of each kid holding a sign that said " I love you to pieces" It was so cute!
