I have, super hero capes ( we are going to put scripture and decorate them. Wearable for the kids, Frizbees, flying discs decorating like Captan America frames and super hero masks I need one more and it has to be very good, and JESUS saves kind of theme... I thought of the faith bracelets but I have too many people saying it wont take long enough, so if I can find two something to go with that one?
Ok so I don't know what age you're working with or how much time you have but.... My mind went to Armor of God, which relates to the 'superhero costume' of bible times superheros...there is a plentiful supply of armor of God crafts on google...
Good idea , I have the sheild covered with the frizbee thing since CA uses it for that, hmm, the have a t shirt, that will have our original avenger design... the breastplate of righteousness ... we could do the whole armor , there are things at OTC that have parts for sun catchers, or some wind chimes, the ages are K-6th basically 4-12 yr olds though most the 12s are at camp that week , one reason we chose this week
okay price influenced me, I found some soft foam that is sew-able. We will have them make their own journal type books. This will keep in with our Pastor's theme of the year "tell your story". He wants us all telling the story of our 'salvation ' or 'how we found Jesus' whatever you call it personally. I am writing comic books to tell the story of Christ with the help of my ds, who is making them into books doing the comic part, I am doing the words to put in the bubbles. I am so totally excited about this VBS, and the camps this year that I want it all to be tomorrow just like a kid! I feel peace at the choices we made! They can write their story, their memory verses.
We bought big cardboard shields about a year ago from OTC. The kids all designed their own armor, colored it in with markers and added the handle they came with. They were really cute.
If I had paid more attention I would have seen that you already had a shield idea. Sorry. Your journal idea sounds like something I would have loved to make in VBS. We always made fun things and sometimes things to give our parents. I loved that. Back in the day, 1960 or so, we had VBS from 9AM to Noon and it lasted for two weeks. Now we do 6PM to 8:30 and we have it for 5 days. Oh, and when I was a kid we did not have air conditioning in our church and kids were on third floor. It was so hot some days but we had so much fun! Can you tell I love VBS?!
