this was about a mile north of us! we are all ok, and i dont think there was any serious injuries, several houses flattened and cornfields demolished, but lives saved!
I wish I could see it. I am still stuck in the dial-up age and my computer struggles with playing videos.
My goodness! Glad you are all okay! Did you have the kids in the bathtub with a mattress over them? I used to live in Tornado Alley, all the time I was growing up, and have also been this close (closer? maybe...) to a twister. Scary stuff. I'm glad no one was hurt!
You crazy and adventurous girl, get your booty in that basement. Said in a stern motherly voice, pointing one finger and the other hand on my hip!
*giggle* I lived in Lubbock, on the Caprock... no one has basements! They do have storm shelters though. I'd have sent the kids down and broken out my video camera too. If you can see which way the thing is going, it's not coming AT you!
well, long story short, my mil was here watching my kids, i was out in the stupid storm helping my dh hang deerstands, lol. as soon as i heard, i called her and told them to get in the basement. my friend who lives a mile up the road took this video before he headed to the basement! there is no way i would have ever been brave enough to take this, but my dh on the other hand is an amatuer storm chaser, and was very jealous he missed this one! im just so glad my kids and mil are ok. i was near tears, praying it didnt hit our house, and so relieved to hear there voices after it had passed. my kids and mil saw it coming and headed down bf i could even call them. God is good!
forgot to add, there is more severe weather heading here in the next 2 hours, please pray we are spared this time!
It hit here also---blew the roof off part of the local middle school. We're fine here, but I have several hs friends who live right in the path. I need to try to reach them today.... Carol
Scary but cool. My son liked it and my one daughter said forget that I am going to the basement. My parents are in NW IN and told me about the weather.
This is the link for the town's newspaper where it occured. http://www.chestertontribune.com/ The pictures are scary. This occurred about 4 miles from my house. Carol
me too! everytime i see that video, i tear up, bc i would have been devastated if my dc had been lost in it. i was so glad grandma took them to the basement, it is just scary to me. i have another video, this guy took it from our front yard, and it is just going right past our house, its on you tube, it is so scary!! http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=143961600049&h=TLtUW&u=eKW31&ref=nf
