My heart is aching for the parents who received those phone calls from the school telling them their child was murdered. I had to go with Freddy to tell the wife of one of his officers that her husband had been shot and killed and that was awful. I don't think I could tell someone their child was dead. I pray God's comfort for them this evening. Beth

    Been praying here.

To not know is what would kill me. I mean if my child were at that school and I hadn't heard from her to know if she is okay would just kill me.

I pray for all those families that lost a child or maybe a husband or wife. And for the other students that witnessed it.

It is entirely devastating for so very many families. It is incomprehensible what they are going through.

This week is also the anniversary of the Oklahoma bombings. I still remember that morning because I had just gotten back from a prenatal appt. with Joyce and saw the photos and thought it was another country. I had to finally shut the news off this morning it was getting so emotional.

Praying here too for all the families involved. I just can't comprehend how this nation is going down hill so fast. No place is safe. I told my dgs, that is why we hs. I don't want him to have to fear going to school. When I was growing up, it was a safe place, no more.

I just turned on the local news and they were saying a principal pleaded guilty to kissing the feet of his female students. Something about a game, if they won/lost, not sure which, he would kiss their feet. Here he had a feet fetish and enjoyed every moment of it. SICK!!!! Where are these people morals??? They don't have any.

I just heard on another board that a private college in Austin cancelled classes due to a bomb threat this morning. Also on Houston's news last night there was something about a school super that had secretly installed cameras in the school bathroom. I didn't catch the whole thing though. Last week here in H-town we had two kids in different parts of town grabbed at the bus stop and sexually assaulted. One was a boy and one a girl. They boy was taken by a known sexual offender who had been in prison for 10 years before.

This world has gone to hell in a handbasket. There is something every single day!!!!! I don't understand it.

I heard in the news that they are concerned w/ copycat actions during finals week, some of which may not actually follow through, to disrupt operations.

But I say, treat every incident/warning as a bona fide EMERGENCY!!!

I have to admit, I have purposefully avoided reading up on all the details. Once I start, I won't be able to stop. It sucks me in. But from the tidbits I've caught here and there, one question out of many that come to mind, is WHY was he allowed to get 25 feet away from the first 2 people he shot in the dorm? I know, hindsight is 20/20, and it's easy to be an armchair detective and critic, but.....

I'll stop. Otherwise, I'll spend the rest of the day on a soapbox, and to do it here would be preaching to the choir.

But I DO want to close w/ this:

    Ladies,

I commend you for your choice to homeschool, for taking this awesome responsibility upon yourselves; for the sacrifices I know each and every one of you have made and will make; for doing what you know in your heart is right despite the sometimes overwhelming opposition you've faced; for not giving up when it gets difficult, when the kids seem to be doing anything BUT learning! (trust me, they ARE....even if for the moment, it's learning, by your example, how to stick to what you believe is right). Perhaps we are charged with the opportunity to raise up a new generation possessing the skills and abilities to make a significant change in this world, on many different levels. Don't feel this message is to pressure you to try harder or stress you out to feel you have to get frantic w/ teaching...just continue what you're doing, keep up the good work, hang in there during the rough spots, and know that you ARE making a difference! Be encouraged!
