I decided to use Sequential Spelling (thanks to all those who responded to me) but now I'm looking for a good vocabulary curriculum to supplement this. I have a 5th & 7th grader (next year) and my youngest seems somewhat on the dyslexic side (if that's possible). Anyone know of a good vocabulary curriculum?

My 5th grader is using an web-based program through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op called Get a Clue. They are having a group buy thru April 22nd for this again. Membership to the co-op is free. Basically just gives us buying power. It's for 5th grade on up and each additional student is at a further discount. My daughter loves it compared to her year's of Wordly Wise probably because there is not writing involved.

My kids are both enjoying Scholastic's "100 Words Kids Need to Know" series. DS1 is doing 5th grade, DS2 is on 1st. They're very colorful workbooks with different activities that seem to have helped "cement" the meanings of these words into my 5th grader's mind better than the curriculum we've used in the past. (Sadlier Oxford's color vocabulary series, and Wordly Wise). The 1st grade edition is sight-word focused instead of vocabulary focused.

I don't know how high they go, though.

Check out Wordly Wise. Or you could go with something like "English from the Roots Up", that teaches the Latin and Greek roots to words. I REALLY like it! It can be used with BOTH of your kids together.

You could just pull from their other subjects, or you could do a word a day kind of thing as well.

We loved the Caesar's English books from www.rfwp.com
Also a fun free site -www.freerice.com you quiz on vocabulary (it adjusts to your level) and earn rice to give to those in need. They also have games for memorizing multiplication facts and learning famous pieces of art.
