Looking for ideas for volunteer work for my dds 11 & 12yo. 4-H group. A few of them are working on points for Honor Club with 4-H & this requires volunteer hours. Our 4-H agent isn't very creative or inspired to help us do this.
They aren't afraid of hard work as they have to help out around the farm(my girls I mean. LOL I don't recruit all of 4-H homeschool chapter to do my farm work.).
Looking for creative ideas other than the typical nursing home, etc...
    Blessings!;)

Don't give up on visiting a nursing home on a regular basis...visit with the residents, read to them, sing with them, etc. This allows them to actually get to know the residents. Consider each of them "adopting" a resident, sending them cards, etc.

Volunteer to "adopt" a stretch of highway and keep it clean.

    Volunteer at a food pantry.

Sponser a can drive for a food pantry.

    Jackie had wonderful suggestions!

When my son was in the NJHS he did nursing home visits, cleaned up the sidewalks downtown (small town), and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. I am sure the SA has work this time of year that they might be able to help with.

What about tutoring younger kids from your area that might need help in a certain subject?

You've had some great suggestions - I'll add one or two more:

Spring is coming - how about yard clean-up for the disabled or house-bound or elderly (you could contact your local dept of aging)

Volunteer at an animal shelter, or even help them host an adoption day.

Great ideas! I forgot to mention that my youngest, kind of combines these 2 ideas and walks our neighbor's dog for her because she is getting ready to have her knee replaced and with the ice it was too dangerous for her to walk this winter. My son and the dog love it!:)
