Hello, as I have said before I am a mother of 2 with one in K and the other 1st. Recently I have been feeling a tug from the Lord to be a servant and to advance His kingdom. I had been looking for opportunities and at bible study one came through the door. The opportunity was an older mother who gave her testimony of how she had a crisis pregnancy and how one person at a center helped her get through it. I felt this was the final nudge from God and that this is where He wants me. However, I am nervous, I am a young mom so I feel I have a lot to offer but I am still unsure. I want to but I am worried about being able to relate, knowing what to say, etc. There is a local christian crisis pregnancy center that I could volunteer at. Does anyone else do this? Do you have any good tips or words of encouragement? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Places like Crisis Pregnancy centers usually have some kind of volunteer training about how to talk to the clients, what not to talk about, what to say and how to say it, in general "how things are done here". If there is no such volunteer training program, ask for it because there needs to be. And of course, praypraypray!

First of all, if this is where the Lord wants you, He will give you the words to say and help you relate.;)

And as far as what Lindina said, I use to work at a Suicide Hotline center. We through a great deal of training before we could start. We did a lot of role playing in order to know what to say. I did it to be a blessing to those who needed it and it was in return, a huge blessing to me. It was wonderful.

    God will enable.

I know it's been awhile since you've posted this, but I wanted to encourage you not to worry. I'm sure that the center will offer training. I worked with a Crisis Pregnancy Center as a volunteer for many years. I will say that it was difficult when 12 year old girls walked in, but the training, role playing, and prayer chain makes a difference. It is very hard work (emotionally), but so rewarding.
