I planned on having the whole rest of the year planned out before we started back up but we were so busy with Christmas that I didn't get a thing done. Now I'm sitting on the computer looking for things to spiff up our school. It gets monotonous after a while. It seems like all we do is bookwork.

So far the only thing I have come up with is using the Calendar from The oriental trading company for some fun days. Tuesday is Cuddle up Day so tomorrow we will choose some movies from the library and spend Tuesday in our PJ's watching them. The 23rd is measure your feet day and the 28th is National Kazoo Day. We are also going to be working on making Valentines.

I personally can't wait to start back up this week. We start Mystery of History tomorrow - just some read-aloud stuff.... and a bunch of other things.

The kids were SUPPOSED to be reading a literature book this past week but totally lost the ball on that one making me be mean and make them start over again tonight.

I'm personally exhausted because we have a baby goat living in the house. At least with a HUMAN baby I can bring it to bed with me - not so with the annoying baby goat (who is adorable - just annoying)...... Hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight and be ready for tomorrow :)

Oh, I am SO ready to get back!!! Though I am NOT looking forward to getting up at 6 AM; we've been sleeping until 8:30 or even 9:00 over our Break!

We're starting back tomorrow as well and I'm ready to get back on a schedule that doesn't include hours of kids tied to their new Nintendo DS'....yes, I realize that they will turn them off when I ask but they've so enjoyed them and it's allowed me to have a few hours of quiet....lol....so that I can get some things accomplished before DH deploys in February.

Actually, my oldest has been devouring library books over break so no complaints there....she knows she has a lot of Sonlight books this semester so she's read a ton of other books just "in case" she doesn't have time for library books...lol... She had time last semester but seems concerned for some reason and who am I to keep a child from reading...lol.

Since we normally don't take a formal Spring Break but pick and chose days here and there, a week off in February for a pre-deployment vacation to Disney is going to be a different thing for us. So I want to get to another good stopping point in a few subjects before then.

Right now, I'm reviewing IEW DVDs so we can get back into a formal writing program....been a bit lax on it. Better get back to it.

We, too, start back tomorrow - it's actually a new school year for us, too. We've been on vacation a looong time. I know my oldest is looking forward to starting back. My pre-K'er and toddler - well, they're just happy to be along for the ride.

Those are some fun ideas you have to break up the monotony. We have so many things that have come up all ready. This week the older boys start tae kwan do and there is a homeschool group park day we can walk to, next week there are doctor and dentist appointments, and a homeschool swim. I think breaking up our monotony can wait until we actually have some

Now, Becky!!! Don't tell me you're worried about Jeannie's evaluation!!! She ALWAYS does so much better than you anticipate. You've got a very fine little lady there, and she's got one heck of a teacher.

    We start back tomorrow also.

I am not looking forward to it at all. I don't really know why. I just have so enjoyed the Christmas break. We had friends and family staying here for days and I was just totally relaxed. I've been sleeping late and just chilling out and enjoying life.

Oh well. We only have a four day week because Friday is my birthday and I refuse to do anything on my birthday. Plus I am leaving that morning to go camping!

We start back tomorrow as well and I'm probably going to be extending our year just so we can maybe get a little ahead before the baby is born and then take a break when the baby comes to get adjusted to a new little one in the house. I'm excited about starting up again I've got many ideas about how to finish off this year right. Then next year we start a whole new program!

We start back on Tuesday. It was going to be tomorrow, but I'd forgotten that I'd scheduled a Dr.'s appointment for myself tomorrow morning. Then over the weekend, my son developed a tooth abscess and DH will have to take him to the dentist in the morning. AND, if that weren't enough, my oldest has such a nasty case of poison ivy that he had to be put on steroids today (took him to one of those urgent care centers).

So I think we need another day off for everyone to feel better...maybe two! ;)

It is almost 1 AM here, and both Carl and I can't seem to sleep. GRRRR!!! Our alarm goes off in 5 hours!!! He came downstairs, and I decided to join him, so we're both checking our e-mail. If things don't change soon, we may postpone our start until around 8 or even 9!

I hope your start back to school days go well, and that you all feel a bit more enthusiasm....
We have the rest of the month off, so I am planning, purchasing (just ordered my new history materials, yay!), and still grading last years work....ugggh!

But I can't wait to start again. In many ways the rhythm of our days is much easier during term.

Ok it's after 9 and I am running late. Still have chores to do and then go run errands - where they will be reading in the car.... I'm not allowing their DS's in the car with them this time.

    Dang I'm slow this morning.

I was still awake at 3:00 AM. Carl woke up, his sore throat back with a vengeance and a terrible sinus headache, so he called in sick. I got up at 8:30, and told the kids they needed to be ready to go by 9:00.

We WERE going to start today, and I still would like them to get a couple of things done. However, it's a beautiful day outside--sunny, kind of warm, and new snow to play in. My dd and dcg are having a blast out there! They're building a big fort thing, and I had to drag them in for lunch. dd is outside now, and dcg is finishing up her lunch. dd asked if dcg could skip her nap and come back out. Well, I WAS going to have my kids do schoolwork while dcg took her nap, but I said they could play instead. One more day won't hurt, especially since this is the best weather we've had in weeks!

I think I'll have them do Math and English tonight and call it good.

We got ALMOST everything done. 1 more subject to go - but NOTHING went right today.... about to leave - answered the phone 45 minutes later got out the door (customer).....ran basic errands (delivered eggs and went to the bank) at the 2nd bank they wanted to hold the check for 5 days - call husband and he has me go to another branch.... they changed their dang policy so I had to come all the way home - write another check and go deposit it THEN I needed to go to the grocery store. Kids fighting in th eback seat so I left my 11 year old home while I went back to the bank and to the store.

    Oh how annoying!!!

Now DH is home and wants to go and gather eggs - I want to sit.... and he's being annoying and I am trying to calm down as kids argued etc all afternoon - oh I'm done.... is it bed time yet?

Here's something to be thankful for Dana--It's just noon right now here on the west coast. You can be glad it's not noon there, and you don't have to go through all THAT again! ;)

Maybe you should just not worry about that last thing, and double up or incorporate it on another day!

Hope the rest of your day goes better!
