I'm really tired, mostly because I'm nearly 8 1/2 months pregnant, but we did it! We stuck to the lesson plan I made for the week, and DS only gave me a little bit of attitude yesterday. We've been doing 5 classes a day, and generally finishing everything by 2-2:30 pm. What was wonderful was doing some very basic algebra with DS today. At first when he saw the lesson, he balked, telling me that it was too hard, and he was never good at this in school. Within 10 minutes, I had explained it to him, and he was saying how easy it was!
Us too! We had a GREAT week. My older daughter struggled with a few things but she actually ASKED for help. This is a big improvement. Last year I would have to question her when I saw her getting things wrong, she would rather die than ask for help. With my younger daughter the only hitch was her math program. We used Math U See Primer and she did great but with the Alpha this year she had no interest in the DVD and only wanted to play with the manipulative blocks. I bought CLP math and am waiting for it to arrive. I am very encouraged and hope the rest of the year is the same way.
Ah, yes, DS mainly cops an attitude when I'm correcting him on something, or if I'm telling him to try something in a different way. He thinks he knows it all! But I keep asking him if he would act/talk that way to his teacher at public school. He says no, and I tell him that he doesn't do it at homeschool either. We'll get there.
We did it too!!!! And it was a crazy busy week on top of school, but we did it!!!! YAY!!!! Congrats to you. I'm all planned out for the next two weeks until our vacation. I'm kind of spreading the 1 week unit into 2 weeks so that I don't start a unit and be in the middle before going on vacation.
So did we But unlike you, I ended up following less than half of what I planned. I don't know why I even make lesson plans
We made it through our first week of school as well. We are trying to learn the Charlotte Mason way this year and so far it works for us. We finished up school on Thursday and had Friday to go to the library and play math/english board games all afternoon (and a little battleship as well. ) I'm looking forward to next week. I'm prepared but really want to plan a few weeks out so I'm ready until our week break in October.
